186 Absorbing the Darkness (1/2)

*Akko's POV*

The area was devastated. After that attack, I don't feel any presence of life in that place.

”SWOOOOOOOOSH!” Then I felt a powerful spell created nearby. It was Maximus spell and he managed to save Maisie! This old man really is full of surprises.

”Hey, girl! I hope you don't do that again. It was so careless. You could have died without my help.” Maximus seems exhausted.

”...” Then she just stared at him like she's angry...

”I just saved your life. I think that's not how to say thank you at all...” Maximus complained.

”...” Her stare became more intense... I don't think she appreciates the help.

”Ok fine. Just stop staring at me like that. That's my last spell for the day. I can't help you guys any further.” It looks like he's useless now. Oh jeez. I can imagine the mana consumption of such spells he used.

Then after that, she stood up but she's not doing great either. She's bleeding pretty hard from that last attack. She needs immediate healing.

I checked our situation. It looks like our archers stopped firing arrows. They've run out of ammo. Spellcasters are also not doing great with their spells either. Some of our forces already died from the all-out attacks of undying Drakes and Lamia archers. Warriors and defenders are trying their best to hold the gate but a lot of enemy forces already passed through the gate and assassins are doing their best to kill all of them.

”Sir! Raven's assassins are slaughtering our supports from behind! We're too focused on the West gate that we didn't see them coming.” One of the scouts reported to Maximus.

”What?! I told you to send our best assassins right?!” He said really depressed.

”Yes sir but they lost. Scy's assassins are protecting the civilians and they are thousands of them, sir. Also, Scythus fought with Siren who unlocked the final form of her monster soul but they managed to defeat her with the help of the Dragon Slayer girl sir.” He reported. What?! Final form, but as long as they defeated her then I guess that's a good job. She can't just use that transformation again because the lower her level is, the harder to use the final form again.

”Send our remaining forces to protect the supports right now!” He ordered.

”We don't have enough forces to help them, sir. A lot of our people fled the city because of the effect of the darkness. Warden blocks the attacks of Drakes alone and Siegriel alone tries to defend the supports, sir. If we send people there, monsters will be able to invade the city, sir!” Oh man. This is not looking great. Scy, get back here as fast as you can!

”That backstabber girl! If we get through this, that girl will pay for what she's done!”

”SWOOOOOOSH!” Without saying anything, as usual, Maisie rushed to the support area to help her brother.

*Leion's POV*

I felt my idol's aura from the East Gate and a powerful malicious aura with him earlier but it's gone now. I guess he defeated her now. Sis was awesome earlier but darn, she doesn't listen at all. Thank God she was saved by that old guy.

*CLAAAAAAANG!* Oh darn! Can they just leave me alone?! Undead and monsters keep on pushing us back! These guys are way too freaking annoying!

*BAAAAAAAAM!* Uggghhhh! Hot darn! One of the undead landed a hit on me! You evil thing! I'm going to slice you up like Idol would do!

”MOON BLADES!” *SWOOOOSH SWOSWOSWOOOOSH!* I slashed monsters around me with my fast blades. But they just keep on coming back!

*JUMMMP* Monsters leaped on me at the same time! There's no way I can attack or block all of them at the same time without using too much mana.

*BAAAAAAAM BABABAAAAAM!* With one sweep, Elle's golem knocked them back like they were nothing! I guess pushing them away would be a good idea too but I don't have the force to do so.

”Thanks, Elle. That golem is really handy.” I told her and she just smiled.

”Are you talking to me?” A bald bulky guy said. Oh! It's Handy, the leader of the Green Leaf Village!

*BAAAAAAAAAAM!* He smashed the undead away with one swing of his giant hammer. This guy is powerful too.

”Hello there, Handyman! You're looking great Sir!” I said to him and he does seem to have fun.

”You're looking great too. I guess puberty is hitting you really well.” I don't think that's good to hear from a guy. I would probably love to hear if a girl said that to me and not a bulky old bald guy.

”Hey, Leion! You should help your brother and sister in the support area. They are being chop-chopped by those Raven freaks!” It's Petula, seems like she's useless because she can't summon any demons around. I need to help them!

”Hey Elle, I'll leave the rest to you. Make sure no evil beings enter inside!” I said and she just nodded.

”These guys are persistent playing dirty! BASILISK'S CUTLASS!” As I arrived at the place, there are a lot of corpses lying around. It looks like they were killed by the Ravens. Those corpses haven't turned into undead yet for some reason.
