Chapter 18 (2/2)
The newspapers and news she had seen in her previous life came to her.
‘Era of Infinite Competition’, ‘Innocent Fraud’, ‘Devil Manipulation and Incitement’, ‘National drama’, ‘Trying to squeeze until death’, ‘winner’s monopoly’, ‘coordination’, ‘profound interest’, ‘greed’ …Yes, the devil is seen everywhere.
I explained those things to Erden as hard as I could.
I don’t know if he understood it well, but he seemed to admit it right away.
“It’s obviously a higher civilization. No wonder the great sages were able to catch the demons off guard.”
He nodded and accepted deeply, then looked at Leticia again. He seemed eager to know more.
“What does it say next?”
Leticia hurried over to the next page.
But that’s it.
Only a few blank sheets of paper followed and the book ended.
“Ah…”
At the same time, sighs came out of their mouths.
Leticia couldn’t help but flip through the blank paper.
“I’ve shown you everything, but we haven’t figured out anything that much.”
“No!”
Erden said hurriedly.
“You’ve given me enough! Who could have known this valuable information? You were much greater than I thought. I’m sure you’ll be a great sage soon. It’s not gonna be trapped in this northern corner anymore.….”
I glanced over him, and mumbled my words, now he treated me as if I was a god.
Leticia feels embarrassed.
Being treated like a wise man is a wonderful thing.
But Leticia is not a wise man. This is just a piece of knowledge.
When she saw Erden’s pure admiration, she felt guilty. Even if it was kept secret from everyone in the world, it occurred to her that he should not treat her like that.
Erden noticed Leticia moving uncomfortably and asked right away in amazement.
“What’s wrong with you? Did I make any mistake?”
“That’s not it.”
Leticia shook her head.
“Well, the truth is…….”
Her words did not drop readily. She moved a few more times and managed to pluck up her courage and said,
“I’m not a wise man.”
“You’re very modest.”
“It’s not that! It’s just the language I used in my previous life. I remember my past life.”
In the end, I told him.
After exterminating the swarm of ants, she confessed to herself that she was so afraid that she might be caught by Erden.
Erden was astounded.
He didn’t bat an eyelid even for a bit. But this problem was different.
As Leticia knows well, remembering a past life in this world is known as an ominous omen. It’s worth being burned to death by a witch.
There was a moment of silence.
Suddenly, Erden uttered something.
“Madame, have you ever told anyone about it?”
It was a heavy voice. The tension was evident.
“No.”
Leticia replied.
“I’ve never done it before and I’m not going to do it again.”
“Then can I ask you why you told me?”
“That’s… because Erden protects me from everything, so I thought I shouldn’t fool you at all. Being silent again, thinking that not only was it a lie, but it is also treachery if I don’t tell the truth.”
“I see.”
Erden muttered.
“I see what you mean. Thank you for telling me. Wife’s secret is something I’ll risk my life to keep.”
He spoke emphatically.
“First of all, I’ll pretend I haven’t heard anything. Just pretend you have ‘special knowledge’ as the grandmother says.”
“I will.”
Leticia nodded again.
It’s very nice that she doesn’t have to deceive anyone who treats her so kindly.
Her mind was a little relieved.
Her wandering gaze turned back to the book.
“For some reason or other, I can read these letters fluently. If the book had been longer, I would have liked it though I felt sorry for it.”
Leticia picked up a thin book and flipped it over.
“The next part will show us what the great sage did, right? I wish I could read it.”
“We’ll be right back.”
Erden said suddenly.
Leticia looked at him in surprise. He shrugged his shoulders.
“I promise. We’ll surely get to the back for this book.”
“How?”
“There’s a way.”
Erden answered back.
“You’ve given me an important secret, so I’d like to tell you a secret about me too.”
His face turned to Leticia. No, it doesn’t have to be that fair.
But apart from that idea, she is curious about Erden’s secret.
“What’s that?”
