Chapter 14 (1/2)

Chapter 14

The enemies were filled with shock.

The Giant Ants were still in turmoil, they couldn’t figure out what just happened.

The Young Lady that is soon to be the wife of the Young Lord, came out to the tower as they had requested. They thought that she would get dragged, but there were arrows that suddenly flew from the top of the tower.

Out of nowhere, the arrows burst out and there was an explosion.

Along with the new nest, tons of Ants were shattered and blown away.

This caused an ordeal.

The death of their queen that is in charge of ordering them around had sparked confusion and the army of Giant Ants was at loss and didn’t know what to do next.

“What the hell! What the hell is going on!”

“Retreat! Let’s retreat for now!”

Those who are quick-witted have found their way back earlier.

But it was just the beginning.

The moment they managed to back down and run away, the soldiers of Halstead that were led by Bastian rushed in.

“Ahhhhck!”

They are merely giant ants who had just lost their queen, so they couldn’t resist and just fell down lifelessly.

Leticia lost it and looked down at them.

If it were a battle between the same humans, the blood would have splattered and their limbs would have been cut off.

But the opponents are demon insects, so she just felt refreshed.

‘That’s great! Way to go!’

She looked eagerly at the Halstead soldiers and cheered them on.

After a short period of time, the remaining ants fell.

“They are all wiped out!”

A guard, who sounded excited, came running up the tower and told her something.

“Madame! Let’s go down!”

The maids were excited, too.

When Lectia came out of the tower, they all had an expression of victory and extravagance.

Outside the castle was a mess.

Several soldiers were covering the Giant Ant’s destroyed nest with a cloth. They thought that it should be sealed until the Lord’s arrival.

Other soldiers searched everywhere to see if there were any casualties. They also remembered to pack some useful weapons and belongings.

“That’s a pretty good camouflage. Take it off this instant!”

“There’s another one here!”

It was the most exciting time and everyone was very busy.

But when Leticia appeared, the soldiers stopped what they were doing. Everyone’s eyes turned to the Young Lady.

‘That’s great.’

No one is seriously injured and won the battle. Even though the Lord is not around, they were able to keep the castle safe.

‘This is enough for me.’

Leticia thought.

However, thinking about the happiness she has felt over the past few days, she couldn’t help but feel a bit bitter in her heart.

‘I’ll never forget this.’

With her shoulders drooping, she turned her eyes to everyone.

She’s sick and tired of seeing the emptiness in other people’s eyes. She doesn’t want to see that again.

But what is going on here?

“Wow!”

A loud cheer rang out.

Everyone ran and surrounded Leticia. The three grandmas walked faster than everyone else. Their faces were all filled with a mirage of emotions.

Bastian shouted first.

“Now that the battle is over, we must count the merits and demerits! The hero of this battle with the Giant Ants and the one who attained victory today was the Mistress! Is there anyone who is against it?!”

“Nope!”

They replied like a roar. In the midst of it, Casaro cried ravenously.

“Hey, nanny! Don’t you have better words to say?!”

She spat on the Giant Ant’s body.

“I have something to say now, I thought these creatures would come back from the dead again. I thought that ‘Today, God will take away some of the useless bastards of this castle, or maybe there will be a time where one arm of this old lady will also be blown away and will be a single-handed person with only one eye.’ But with your assistance, I didn’t lose anything to those damned creatures and my arm is still intact. Can you do me a favor and tell me what I’m going to do with this unscathed arm?”

She took off her hat and paid her respect with all her heart and cried out loud.

“Praise the Mistress!”

“Hooray to the Mistress!”

Everyone shouted in chorus.

What is this?

Leticia was puzzled.

This isn’t a play. They were not trying to laugh at Leticia just like her older cousin.

Their reactions were all sincere.

‘I’d be less surprised if they talk about magicians.’

She felt embarrassed at what she’d thought. She realized again that she was used to the coldness of other people’s gaze.

She didn’t know where to look, so she turned her gaze to Alexa. Leticia said something out of nowhere.

“I-I-uhh—”

“I know what you are thinking.”

Alexa said calmly.

“Trust this grandma’s words. I’ve been through similar things since I came here. And there is one thing that I’ve learned. There are no pointing fingers at the time of salvation. At least it applies here.”

“—.”

Salvation.

Alexa’s words caught her heart.
