”Father... I want to ask you something.” Margaret stood up, keeping the needle back in the box.

”Yes, what is it?” Corbette turned around.

”Who am I, Dad?” she tried to recall everything but she could hardly remember anything now.

Corbette shoot still and spoke nothing. He stared at the locket.

...

Margaret could sense something odd in his facial expressions. It was a hollow stare and his face void of expressions. This is something she did not expect.

”Father, is everything alright?” she walked towards him and held his left hand. She looked up at him. Although she was tall compared to all the girls of her age, she was still a few inches shorter than her father.

”Do you know who am I, father?”

”Why do you ask?” he asked finally breaking his gaze off the locket.

”Some weird things happened to me lately. This locket glows whenever I miss my mother or cry. And the locket also has the same mark as my birth mark. I don't know if it's my birthmark or somebody engraved it on my skin but the exact copy of it is inside this locket. I can see it clearly when it glows.” she revealed everything. As she spoke her heart felt light. For all this time she had these emotions, feelings and thoughts which she wanted to share with someone. But she also needed an answer.

Corbette didn't know what to say. He knew who she was but he wasn't sure about her identity.

”Do you remember you mother, Margaret?”

”I remember her face but now I think I am starting to forget what she looked like.” her eyes started to become watery as she controlled her emotions.

”I remember her asking me to keep this locket safe before she left me... and she never returned.” she sniffed while speaking, caressing the locket.

”Why was I the only survivor of the massacre? And who killed my mother?” her questions yearned for answers.

”You are a very special person, Margaret.” Corbette wiped her tears.

”What happened to you years back was definitely tragic. But I don't have the right information. All this time, I tried finding out who you are but I only know that you don't belong to us. You are not a vampire nor a human.” he finally revealed. The girl had the right to know who she is but he waited for her to ask.

Margaret's eyes grew wider. She knew that she didn't belong to them. She wasn't a human either.

”Father, why am I still here? If I am not a human or a vampire...”

”Do you want to leave us?” Corbette asked.

”No, it's not what I meant.” she apologised.
