46 Exposing himself (1/2)

Zixi had already realised the reasons for Yueyue's kidnapping earlier. From the Li patriarch's words it was obvious that he had tried to find clues about the Qin family but had been blocked by uncle. As soon as this realisation stuck him, he had resolved to stay behind. He didn't want to drag Yueyue into it and from the Li patriarch's words it was obvious that he had no plans to harm the eldest daughter of his friend and business partner. This was a huge weight off his shoulders.

When the fighting started, he paced himself in a way that the distance between him and Li Rong increased. With the chaotic situation they were facing, he knew Li Rong's first priority would be to take Yueyue away from here and as he saw the warehouse's doors closing once again behind Yueyue, he knew he could settle his matters once and for all this time. He could hear Yueyue's hoarse voice screaming his name but all he could do at this point was to find out why his family had been so brutally murdered. Therefore, he stopped fighting with the men that had surrounded him and simply spoke, ”Call your employer. Tell him I have the information he needs.”

A few minutes later he saw the Li patriarch once again in the warehouse.

”Zixi, you are a close aide to the next gen leader of the Yu Corporation. I am sure you know a lot of business secrets of the family but that is not what I am after.”

”Old Master Li, let's not beat around the bush. I know exactly what you want to inquire about.” He smiled ironically.

”Oh! Do you? How can you be so sure? For that matter, how do you even know what information I am after? If you don't prove yourself to be useful, do forgive me for being impolite.” The Li patriarch still talked as if they were merely discussing the weather.

”Well you can rest easy since I'll tell you all of it in one go. You are looking for the last descendent of the Qin family. All those years ago you had thought that the roots and branches had been uprooted and cleaned thoroughly, but a few years down the road you realised that you had missed the young master of the Qin family. A few years ago the people you had made use of to carry out your plans started disappearing one by one. You must have realised it at that point. These few years while you were joining hands with the Yu patriarch in business deals in the front, you were trying to find clues about the boy behind the scenes. You have tried all the soft methods overtly and covertly but they haven't yielded any preferable results for you. At present the noose seems to be tightening around your neck so you are worried that the things that happened all those years ago will come back to bit you and harm others in the family. Therefore, you decided on this plan of action.” Zixi was tired from all the fighting earlier and after speaking for so long he went quiet abruptly.

”You seem to know a lot for an outsider working under the Yu clan. How did you obtain this information? Your master told you all this to prepare for any such eventuality or you snooped around his place?” Li patriarch was astounded by the amount of information this wisp of a subordinate had about the matters regarding the power struggle at the apex.

Before Zixi could reply they heard the screeching of tires and Li Tong's car again rushed inside the warehouse. They saw as Yueyue and Li Rong got off the car and came towards them.

”What are you doing here? Didn't you leave already? Why are you back?” The Li patriarch was furious about the interruption. Moreover, he didn't want anyone else to know about what was going on.

”Uncle, just let Zixi go. He is my immediate subordinate. I'll put this behind me and won't let anyone know about what had happened here today. If you want we all can sign non - disclosure papers with stringent terms but let him leave with me.”

”Eldest Miss, you didn't need to come back for me. I have always known that this day would come and have already prepared for it. Just leave and don't look back.” Zixi really didn't want to involve her in his matters and he had already made up his mind to break the shuttles of his fake identity and come clean with everything today.

He had made preparations for such a scenario long ago be it good or bad. He had written a letter for his uncle thanking him for sheltering him from wind and rain all these years and told him never to disclose his real identity to Yueyue if he didn't make it. Afterall, it was better for her if she didn't know too much about matters that didn't concern her. He had also written a resignation letter for her if the outcome wasn't favourable to him. He had asked uncle to give it to Yueyue and simply say that he had resigned due to some circumstances and leave it at that.

He had also transferred a sizeable amount of money in his 'sister's' account which was more than enough for her to live off of for her lifetime. But, with Yueyue here he couldn't do anything right now as he was afraid that she would get hurt in the chaos that would start after the masks were taken off of everyone's faces.
