Chapter 601: Eves hidden power (1/2)

”Dear… I might have some bad news.”

Even now I still couldn't really figure out what Makay deal was in the end. The fact that he managed to make me wish to visit that City of Immortals he mentioned alone could serve as a contribution to his persuasive abilities. Yet, if he was capable of achieving so much with just words, then what was the entire duel that he insisted off about?

Was it just an attempt to gauge my strength? Was this some sort of test with meaning way different to what he openly claimed? Or maybe it was nothing else but just his wits and reliance of the system that pushed the lord to act in this way?

I had no way of judging it. I was in a place where compared to others I could be called a godlike presence. Just like the fight that I witnessed before clashing with Makay proved, right now while not the weakest of them all, I certainly didn't feel confident enough to act with the same, careless attitude as I did before. My strength was no longer sufficient to back this kind of behaviour up!

”What's wrong, dear?”

Caressing her own belly while leisurely sitting in a simple swing-char that I made for her in spare time, Eve didn't seem to be even the tiniest bit surprised by neither my sudden appearance nor the aura that surrounded me.

The last time she saw me, I was rushing in fury towards the man who dared to hurt her sister-in-law. On the other hand, now I was returning with poorly hidden excitement gleaming in my eyes, with my figure expressing the deepest possible regret.

”Should I start with the good news or bad news?”

As I approached Eve's place, she nibly stood up from her seat before pointing at it with her arm. While just this combined with her semi-serious face was enough to elevate her to the peaks of cuteness, yet the hint of seriousness in her eyes still forced me to obidiently follow her mute order.

”Now we can talk.”

The moment I could finally lean against the backrest of the huge chair, Eve jumped right on top of my lap, cuddling head right on my shoulder. With her hands wrapping around my waist, I felt as if my entire body was suddenly covered with her and her alone.

”So, don't keep me hanging. Start with the bad news, I prefer to hear the good ones later, to sweeten the sourness of the first part.”

Momentarily raising one of her hands to caress my cheek for a bit, Eve sent me an encouraging smile before returning to her favourite position.

”For the bad news… Well, starting with the important ones. I failed to recover Celleria's bloodline. From now on, she won't be able to make any use of what she was given at birth. While at one side it was a painful memento of your bastard father, at the same time it was the only thing you two received from him. At least I can assure the two of you that no one will ever get to use it. I had no other choice and ended up burning it into ashes.”

This generally was the one thing that I regretted the most from the entire situation that occurred. Recovering Celleria's bloodline was the absolute priority and reason behind me appearing in the Makay's castle vincity that lead to me witnessing the clash of the absolute monsters of this world along with the later talk and duel with the Makay himself.

”Well… Those are not as bad news. You might've failed to notice it, but Celleria didn't really lament over losing her bloodline. In fact, she didn't even realise it happened before the two of us noticed it…”

Releasing a deep sigh, Eve buried her face in my chest for a moment, panting heavily as if she couldn't get enough of my smell in her delicate nose.

”Hmgghm ghiginuh hmm hampfh.”

The tickling feeling of Eve's mouth moving and releasing slight gusts of air directly into my body didn't bear any meaning. In fact, even if they did, her voice was soo muffled due to speaking directly into the cloth of my robes that no matter how hard I tried, I was unable to understand what she actually meant!

”Dear… I understand that you want to speak face to face with my heart, but I'm unable to understand what you want to say like that.”
