Chapter 507: Ammasing the knowledge (1/2)
”You are really going to the continent?!”
Despite how obvious from all my question it was that sooner or later my path would lead me to the mainland of the area when Celleria heard the confirmation directly from my mouth, she was still quite surprised.
”Yeah. As soon as I'm done skimming these books and manuals in here, I will be going to the continent. Why are you so surprised?”
While initially, I considered her to be a potential guide of mine, if she turned out to be too slow to connect such obvious dots, I would have to reconsider taking her with me. After all, unless she was smart enough to realise that no powerhouse on the continent would be capable of stopping me from doing her harm if she were to attempt something funny, taking her along would be too risky.
”Well, I kinda knew it already, but still, hearing it from you in person… I wanted to go back ever since a few years ago when I completed my task! It's like a dream come true for me!”
Looking closely at her face as she explained herself, I could see that she was most likely telling the truth. Obviously, without forcing her to speak her mind with my charm ability, I was unable to check whether she was a natural-born liar. Still, I didn't consider going to such lengths to be necessary or required.
”Okay then, back to the topic. What else should I know about the continent and its culture?”
Dropping the hook for the conversation, I stood up from my sitting place and started grabbing the books and scrolls while listening attentively to Celleria's recounts. Opening the texts only to infuse my hand with a bit of magic before scrolling through the entire volume and moving on to the next one.
One by one, the valuable books were moved from their previous, chaotic piles that seemed as if Celleria threw them inside her study without any regard for their antiquity value, to neatly stacked columns on the previously empty part of the floor.
”Hey, are you even listening to me?”
After a few minutes, the fact that I didn't pay her any attention irked Celleria's wrath. Turning around, I expected her to be angry, yet to my surprise, all I could see on her face was a huge pout.
”... factions. As such, it's of vital importance to keep one's allegiance in mind while looking for any job opportunities. Did I miss even a single word?”
