”Next!”
With the city servant calling for the next person, we were finally relieved of our duty of staying pointlessly in this stupid line. Thanks for the fact that the commotion caused by my cousin didn't last long and wasn't as loud as one could suspect from the amount of the emotions that were included in it, with the exception of those closest to us, no one actually had a clue of Eve's family name or my grudge with my cousin.
”I know that I didn't finish my story, but there isn't much more to speak about. With my father left in the infirmary, I was thrown out of the family mansion and left to my own devices. If not for my talent finally awakening in that moment of need, I would be either a cold corpse spread around the stomaches of various magical beasts in the forest, or some kind of servant in a rundown inn.”
Changing the parts of my story that would reveal the existence of my system if someone were to eavesdrop on us, I recounted the events that transpired during the time I spent back in the mansion.
”I guess both of us don't have the best memories with our more distant family…”
Following the road down the tournament area, we aimed for the lodging area, where all the challenges that visited the city in advance could stay. With a room already secured, there was no point in paying most of our pocket money just to get to sleep somewhere else. Considering how the tournament was considered a local event and a holiday, there was a chance that even if we tried to do so, there would be no lodging available anywhere close the arena anyway!
”While I get why did you flare up, I can't say I'm okay with you putting me at the stake. While I know my approach towards intimate matters might be lax when it comes to other girls… I can't imagine myself being with anyone else!”
With Eve sulking for obvious reasons, I could only hang my head in shame. While I know for sure that I won't lose to this bastard, a fact that I placed her at the stake spoke loads about me.
”This is something I will never be able to repent for. I shouldn't do it, no matter how much he provoked me. I guess all I can do is do my best to not let him surprise me in any way!”
There is no point in trying to defend me here. I fucked up really big, and I at least have the balls to admit it. I guess since our toy was left in the sect, I won't be able to enjoy my initial encounters with Eve for days that will come before my duel!
”It seems that we arrived.”
Standing before the massive entrance towards even bigger building, we couldn't help but daze for a short moment. While the architecture back at the sect wasn't lacking in any way, it simply paled in comparison to almost everything in this city!
”Let's go in then.”
Shaking my amazement off, I pulled on Eve's head and guided us toward the interior. After reaching the counter, we were asked for a participation card, that we received back at the registration tool in exchange for the participation token. I guess this is the way in which they secure one token won't be used multiple times.
