32 The Fifth and Final Day in the City of Sin Part 1 (1/2)

Leo ran.

He noticed that demons were surrounding his position. He felt the rain get contaminated by the demon aura. He felt the the rain increase in temperature. He saw the buildings collapse when demons destroyed buildings with the sheer weight of their bodies.

They were shrouded in a thick black mist, and then he saw them. They appeared in front of the gate. They climbed on each other's backs and blocked the gate. They climbed on the walls and hissed at Leo.

This was the first time since Leo's awakening that he held the need to use his strength. He was ready. This was the first time since Leo's awakening in Little Vicious Village that he realized he would need all the magic power inside of his body. He was ready, or thought he was... He knew the children depended on him. He knew they needed him to survive.

In the split second before the demons attacked, he decided to combine void and fire magic. He would launch himself up into the air. He would use two spells: ”Push” from the void magic, and ”burst” from fire magic.

But as the demons approached him, he instinctively used Solomon's earth magic circle to raise his body up into the sky by creating a circular platform that was 15 meters in diameter. The magic circle didn't use up his own magic, so it was a good decision.

As Leo raised his body over forty meters into the sky, he felt the force of the maneuver nearly break his bones. So, he cast ”fortify” from void magic as soon as he could.

He escaped the last minute decision with a few hairline fractures in his legs and severe damage to the bones in his feet.

The long limbs of the demons crawled up the pillar that Leo created. They sank their claws into the pillar to follow Leo up into the sky. A few demons started to break the pillar of earth as well.

But that didn't matter, the combination of ”push” and ”burst” magic had already been combined. Leo cast a quick ”fortify” on his body, right before the combination magic finished casting.
