Chapter 3: A quest from the banana? (1/2)
”This minimap is annoying!” Michu was greatly annoyed by the minimap floating in his right corner. It always followed him and disturbed his sightseeing. He wasn't also used to having such a feature, but Michu didn't know how to turn it off.
He also had many other windows that were all player features.
There was his HP/MP on his left corner and even chat not too far away from the center of his vision.
A quest log was also not too far away from the center, but it was blank and just irritating, ”I should be able to turn it off! It's the freedom world!” Michu knew that he just needed to ask players for that.
”Hey! Can you help me?” Michu asked the first players he met on the road, then they told him how to turn it off nicely.
Michu was all smiles and thanked them loudly.
He then continued his trip to the banana farm.
The Four Leaf World was a fantasy world where threats lurked around even in the beginner cities. But one would need to be the chosen one to receive such treatment as most areas were connected through the roads.
Those roads were also cleaned frequently by players who just leveled up by hunting close to the safe zones.
”This is it!” Once Michu arrived at his destination, his eyes dilated with happiness as he spread his arms.
He found the banana farm in the rural areas where monsters were so weak that the farmers could deal with them.
The banana herbs spanned over a thousand meters and were so big that Michu's eyes turned into stars!
”Hello!” He greeted the farmer who worked on these bananas. This farmer was a middle-aged man who held a long stick with a net at the end. It was a tool used to get all those bananas and then sell them to the villagers and other poor people.
Of course, the nobles and royalties also used bananas in their cuisine, so this business was not that bad at all.
”Hello, young man. What brings you here? Are you here perhaps for the quest?” The farmer could see through Michu's identity as he had beginner clothes.
Those clothes were easily distinguishable together with the name tag that floated above Michu's head.
”Quest? Yes! I want the quest for bananas and this farm too.” Michu put his hands on his hips and nodded with a wide smile, ready for any hard work.
The old man somewhat couldn't help, but laugh faintly at his honesty, ”I don't plan on selling my farm. But you can work here if you want.”
Ding!
Quest!
[Help the farmer gather all the bananas!]
[Use his tools to pick up bananas and gather them in the basket.]
[Reward: A stack of bananas from the farmer. You will begin the friendship with the farmer Hao and each hour spent on the work will give you ten stamina points.]
”I will do it!” Michu shouted.
[You have accepted the quest.]
”Thank you. I will come for the tool-” The farmer Hao let his tool go and turned around to bring one for Michu.
However, the young man shouted, ”There is no need. I can climb up those trees!”
After he said it, Michu climbed up the tree like a monkey. He also could easily stick to it with his legs and extended his hands to pick up bananas one by one.
His eyes located the basket from the top, then Michu threw bananas one by one at it with shocking accuracy!
”If you fall from it, you will die! Aren't you just an Lv.1 Player?” The old man shouted, but Michu giggled and reassured him.
He puffed his chest, ”I am tough! Even if I fall, I won't die!”
”Of course you won't die… Aren't you a player? But the penalties for dying are severe. That's what I heard,” The old man said, and only then did Michu realize he wouldn't die here even if he actually hit the ground with his head.
He would feel some pain, but even that would be mitigated.
”Haha! It's all fine then!” Hard work began then.
-
[Your stamina has increased by 10!]
”Here are your bananas… Do you want to keep working here?” The old man asked.
Both he and Michu were sitting on the bench after the hard work.
While the old man used a fan to cool himself, Michu instantly pounced at the banana and peeled its skin in the blink of an eye.
He then enjoyed the flavor filling his mouth, ”It's so much better! Wow!”
