Chapter 2 - Assassination of the New Room
The night was dark and the autumn wind was blowing in the water.
Inside the bridal chamber, a pair of red candles illuminated the lonely bridal chamber. The bride was already resting on the bed.
In front of the bed, beside the red embroidered shoes, was the rooster with the red rope tied to its feet. The other end of the red rope was tied to the foot of the bed to prevent the rooster from running away.
On the wedding night, the bride and the rooster at the nuptial hall shared a spring dinner.
Yun Qianliang who was on the bed turned her body, opened her sleepless eyes, and looked at the rooster who had acknowledged her.
”I told you to stay in the new house to peck bastards, but you fell asleep first.” Yun Qianliang pulled on his blanket and continued to brew his sleepiness.
Yun Qianliang didn't know that the bastard he was talking about was sitting on the roof of the new house and listening to her every word.
The autumn night was cold and the moonlight was waning.
Ever since nightfall, Gu Wuchen had been drinking and enjoying the moonlight on the roof. He was dressed in dark silk clothes, and if not for the moonlight which shone on him, he would have seemed to be submerged in darkness, making him hard to see.
There was quite a bit of atmosphere when it came to Yue Qian.
As if he was tired, Gu Wuchen reclined on the ground, patiently waiting for a guest at night.
”Master, the night is cold.” Gu San appeared on the roof with a cape.
Gu Wuchen finished the alcohol in his cup, his eyes glimmering as he stared at the assassin who was disguised as a servant and sneaked into the Green Pine Academy.
When it came to bestowing marriages, he would shirk everything to avoid them. Helpless, he was forced to accept the imperial edict bestowing marriages.
On the day of the wedding, someone was sent to entangle him, preventing him from making an appearance. The onlookers must have thought that he was making things difficult for Yun Qianliang.
If Yun Qianliang died in her bridal room on the night of the wedding, the imperial court would definitely cause a commotion tomorrow. They believed that he had killed someone because she disliked Yun Qianliang, so they wanted to use this to suppress his power.
Yun Qianliang had only sent a scapegoat over to harm him.
For the sake of grand plans, the Right Premier had been overly generous this time.
Yun Qianliang who had been unable to sleep suddenly calmed down and listened for the sound outside, and frowned.
Yun Qianliang gently lifted the blanket and moved the bed that had shoes placed on it away. She moved her feet back, and after she went in, he put the bed back and laid on the bed with her breath lowered.
Just as Yun Qianliang was putting the bed down, she heard the sound of swords clashing outside. Soon after, the faint sound of the door opening.
The other person purposefully took light steps and slowly approached the bed.
Through the gap, he saw a pair of legs wearing night clothes as they cautiously moved forward.
As he approached the bed, he saw that there seemed to be no one under the red curtain. He quickly walked over to the bed and stepped on it. Then, he flipped open the red book.
The rooster sleeping at the foot of the bed was suddenly awakened by a loud noise. Its opponent's sword was right beside it, and as if it sensed the approaching danger, it began to cry out, wanting to run away. Unfortunately, the red rope on its feet was tied to the leg of the bed, so it could only flop around blindly.
Yun Qianliang was speechless when she heard the noise.
Chicken, long snacks.
Attracting the attention of an assassin, aren't you intentionally courting death?
Indeed, in the next moment, the assassin's sword struck the ground and the sound came to an abrupt stop. The rooster's head fell to the ground, and the fresh blood that flew out scattered all over the ground in an orderly manner.
Yun Qianliang swallowed her saliva, and covered her neck.
His swordplay was sharp and swift.
Then the assassin's foot moved on the foot of the bed and he stepped off the floor.
Yun Qianliang secretly heaved a sigh of relief, and her hanging heart gradually relaxed.
The assassin stopped in his tracks, and his gaze fell upon the red embroidered shoes on the bed. Killing intent surfaced in his eyes.
Yun Qianliang could only cast light and shadows to deduce the assassin's movements. Upon discovering that she was bent over, Yun Qianliang's heart which had yet to return to its original position immediately rose to his throat. She pursed his lips tightly, and held his breath.
The silver sword pierced through unexpectedly, only a finger's distance away from Yun Qianliang.
Yun Qianliang's eyes turned as she stared at the silver sword, her heart thundering.
