I whispered, ”Yes, I'm her friend. What's the matter?”

”The doctor in charge of the patient wants to have a chat with the patient's family, but the patient's family has not come yet, so can you go?”

I thought about it, this isn't right. A cold and fever, what's the use? He still needed to see his family? I walked to the doctor's office and knocked on the door before walking in. ”May I know if you are looking for me? I am a relative of Room 702.”

”Come...” Please sit down! ” The doctor was a middle-aged man. He stood up and poured a cup of water before passing it to me. ”I am the attending physician for patient Guan Rou. My surname is Liu.”

I nodded and asked, ”Doctor Liu, how is my friend? Isn't she just having a cold and fever?”

Doctor Liu reached out and took the case from the table. He flipped through it a few times and said, ”The patient actually has not a cold or fever, but leukemia. Fortunately, it was discovered in time, or else we wouldn't be able to do anything about it.”

”What?” ”Leukemia...” This was too unbelievable, but it seemed like leukaemia could kill people.

Doctor Liu said softly, ”The reason we say that she has a cold and a fever is actually to prevent the patient from being distracted. If the patient were to find out about her condition, it would affect her condition.”

I frowned and said, ”Then … Then is there really no need for my friend to be treated? ”

”Right now, we are only using medicine to maintain her. Other things will require the company of your friends and family. If she improves, her lifespan might increase a bit.” I got up and walked out of the office, returning to Guan Rou's room.

”Why did you take so long to use the washroom? I thought you fell into it.”

I whispered, ”It's already so late, so you should rest up first. I'll be lying on this bed. If there's anything, just call me.”

Guan Rou stretched her body. Suddenly, I saw that her nose was bleeding. ”Wait a minute, don't move!” ”Look up...”

”What are you looking at?” I hurriedly wiped Guan Rou's nose with a tissue, then threw it into the trash can.

”Why is it bleeding again? It seems like there's something wrong with my nose. When I fainted that day, my nose hit the table and I started bleeding.” Guan Rou reached out to grab a tissue to cover her nose as she muttered.

I hastily replied, ”It's just a nosebleed. What's there to be alarmed about? You just have to lie down and sleep. After you recover, you can go back to the police station and resign so that you can have some fun.”

”Resign? Why would I resign? ”

”Not resigning. I'm saying the police department needs you to handle so many cases a day.” Let's not talk about this for now and talk about it later.

I reached out and turned off the wall light. The room was dark.

”I can't fall asleep. Liu, can you chat with me for a while?” ”What do you want to talk about?” I asked as I lay on the bed beside me.

Guan Rou turned around and asked me, ”Have you been an orphan since young?”

”Yeah, why did you suddenly think of asking this?”

”It's nothing. Actually, I'm an orphan too. The parents who raise me now are my adoptive parents.” There was a hint of sadness in Guan Rou's voice. She sat up, leaned against the headboard of the bed and looked out the window.

”Have you ever wanted to die?”

”What happened to you today? Why have you become so weird?” I sat up and turned on the wall light. Guan Rou hugged me as she said, ”Don't leave me, alright? I don't have any family members by my side anymore.”

Guan Rou was crying loudly in my arms. I softly consoled her, ”Don't cry. I hate girls that cry the most. Don't you think you're doing quite well? Aren't you being a police officer? I'm already envious of you.”

I really don't know how to persuade people. I don't think even ghosts would believe such words.

”Right... I really don't believe it! ” I turned my head and saw that there was a ghost woman standing in the doorway of the ward. The ghost woman gave me a wry smile.

”What's wrong? ”What are you looking at …” Guan Rou raised her head and looked doubtfully at the corner of the ward's door. She then asked with fear, ”Is there something wrong with this room?”

I whispered, ”No, where did this ghost come from?”

”I'm a ghost …” The ghost actually floated over and stood beside the bed. It lowered its head and gently blew on the back of Guan Rou's neck. ”Why is it so cold, is there really no ghost in this room?”
