Chapter 164

The colored light attack was just the start of the chaos that followed the appearance of The Candied King. Each beam of light that flew from the tootsie pop, one beam for each color of the rainbow, blasted into a skeleton, with a different effect, though the same end result. For instance, the red light caused the skeleton it hit to burst into flames. The blue light caused the skeleton it hit to turn to ice. Either way, the skeleton died…again.

”Run.” FlashFyre's voice held a hint of terror as the necromancer saw her skeletons burst into undeath. Without waiting for confirmation, she turned and fled, along with Axel42. A split second later, the rest of the party members all began to run as well.

”Flee in terror all you want.” BLANKs Avatar called out, taking a massive step from the forest as it did. A moment later, another blast of color flew from its massive scepter, decimating another 7 skeletal mobs. The greater skeleton and two breakers made as if to bar the way, but the Avatar simply slammed them aside with its massive shield, seeming unconcerned by them.

Which made perfect sense. After all, James knew, though his players didn't, that the Avatar's were meant to be extremely powerful…considering they were, Avatars. A level 30 Avatar was going to be a lot stronger than summoned mobs from level 30, or even level 40, players. James was pretty sure the Avatar's were likely closer in strength to world bosses, or maybe even raid bosses. Either way, The Candied King was not going to be even slowed down for a moment by the mobs left to stop him.

”There is no escape from our divine light.” BLANKs Avatar raised the scepter, pointing it towards one of the players of Trogdor's supposed party. The tootsie pop stopped shifting colors, changing instead to a golden light. A bright flash appeared, and suddenly the player froze in place, a golden cage around him. BLANKs Avatar let out a chuckle as it continued its advance. Unluckily for James's players, something towering 30ft had a much larger stride than those under 6ft.

”What is that thing.” James wondered as he pulled up the Avatar's information once again. Normally ,when James pulled up player information, even BLANKs players, he could at least see their class. However, the Avatar simply said Avatar. Meaning James wasn't going to learn anything about the skills of his opponent.

All he could tell, was that it was an elemental. Elemental was a race James had seen some sorcerers and wizards take. Elementals were a race geared towards being a caster, as they passively had a small increase to their mana pool, as well as their mana regain rate. The other unique feature elementals had was a slight increase in any elemental damage added to a spell. It was slight, obviously, but as did all the other race bonus's, it scaled every 10 levels. Meaning the Avatar Research Level 6 BLANK over there, was benefitting from a level 30 race bonus.

However, Elementals were a squishier race than some of the other magical options, which was why they weren't as common as one would expect. They had a lower natural defense and health pool, as well as lower physical attributes. Which meant the obvious heavy armor that the Avatar was wearing, did not make sense.

”I'm guessing it's a secret class.” Rue was analyzing the Avatar just as much as James was, while their players got picked off one by one. BLANK seemed to be enjoying utilizing that golden light to cage the players as they ran. So far, four of the seven players had been caged. Only Trogdor, FlashFyre, and Axel42 were free. However, BLANK was drawing up to the first player it had caged, the Avatar's eyes glowing evilly.

”That's not good.” James muttered, wincing slightly as The Candied King stepped on the poor adventurer, causing him to instantly burst into a glowing orb. That was just wrong. Like, seriously, at least kill the poor adventurers in an honorable manner. Stepping on them was just messed up.

”Nope.” Rue continued looking over the Avatar, her eyes narrowing as she watched the scepter glow. It was still glowing golden, and another flash shot out towards the fleeing adventurers. It was headed directly towards FlashFyre, but just before it could hit her, Trogdor leapt into the path of it.

The Dragonkin was instantly snared in a glowing cage, while FlashFyre stumbled, but managed to keep going.

”Thanks, little man.” FlashFyre called back as she continued fleeing. Axel42 glanced back at his caged brother. The dragonkin made eye contact with Axel42 and flashed him a reptilian thumbs up. A moment later, he turned towards the approaching Avatar, watching as The Candied King stepped on another of James's players. Like, seriously, that was extremely disrespectful.
