140 Chapter 140 (2/2)
Of course, not only could necromancers create skeletons, but the stronger they got, they could create zombies, golems, ghosts, etc. At level 20, they had the opportunity to choose what path of necromancer they wanted to be. Some paths allowed for them to summon zombies or ghosts or other undead creatures. Others, such as the path FlashFyre had chosen, allowed them to enhance the type of undead mob of their choice.
FlashFyre had chosen the Path of Bones, allowing her to create stronger versions of her skeletal mobs. It also allowed her to combine skeletal mobs to create larger skeletons, uncreatively called Greater Skeletons. At level 29, she had the ability to control 10 regular skeletons, 5 skeletal mages, and 1 Greater Skeleton. When she hit level 30, she would be able to choose a new path, or could further go down the path of Bones.
”You've got to admit, it was still awesome.” The runes around Axel42's wrists began to glow, as it seemed he had finally chosen what he was going to summon. ”Though, I really wish I was level 30 right now.” He let out a sigh and shook his head, two pentagrams glowing before him.
”Maybe if we hadn't gotten eaten by that mimic yesterday.” FlashFyre shot him another look, which he just shrugged to in response. Apparently, they had come across quite a few misfortunes, and from the sounds of it, usually because of him.
”I can't help that I had to go bathroom alright. How was I supposed to know the toilet was going to be a mimic? Like, seriously, who does that?” The pentagrams before him continued to swirl, growing in size as they did. A moment later, two massive forms appeared before him.
”Nice.” James mumbled. He knew Axel42 was level 29, and had chosen, to James's amusement, Monster Summoner as his level 20 subclass. That allowed him the ability to summon any mob he had killed, if he had slain it enough times. Essentially, depending upon the mob, he would earn a percentages towards completion, every time it fell. From what James knew, the amount needed to be defeated varied by the type and tier of the mob. Though, it seemed Axel42 had been doing his homework when it came to getting his percentages completed, because now in James's swamp, a Steamosaurous and a Break-i-asarus both stood. Somewhere the steampunk dinosaurs were never meant to be.
”Something something, fossil fuels.” Rue said jokingly as the two mobs came into being. The Breaker was actually so large that its feet sunk deeply into the soft swampy mud, while its massive form broke through the trees around them. The Breaker let out a loud metallic roar in protest, and actually smashed down one of the massive trees with its tail, causing a trio of jolly dollies to let out a string of angry giggles as they ran towards the next tree. Conversely, the Steamer seemed perfectly content as it sunk a little further into the ground. It was already shifting into Siege Mode Panzer, preparing for a long-range assault. Axel42 had chosen his mobs very well.
While a few of the members of Stryke Force eyed the arrival of the two steampunk mobs with more than a little annoyance, given the mobs massive size and destruction of the area around them, Stryker123 simply nodded in approval towards Axel. The summoner shrugged at a few who were shooting curses towards him, as he made his way to stand next to the portal to the second floor. FlashFyre did the same, putting the two of them the furthest away from danger, while their literal army of mobs now occupied more of the battlefield than anyone else. Which was exactly what it meant to be a pet class.
The appearance of the dinosaur mobs actually caused BLANKs adventurers to pause their advance as well. SoulDemon eyed the two new additions to the battlefield with cautious apprehension, before his eyes moved down and began scanning the group of adventurers standing in his way. It was clear BLANKs adventurers intended to capture the point that was the portal to the floor, probably intending to camp out and take down any adventurers that came to challenge them, while farming mobs at the same time. An extremely efficient strategy, in James's mind.
SoulDemon looked back at his party, his eyes shifting from the healer, and the sorcerer. It was apparent the level 40 player was wondering if he could count on the two for whatever it was he had planned. After a moment, he seemed to make up his mind.
”I'll take the players, the rest of you deal with the mobs.” As he spoke, he sheathed his candy cane dagger, and drew out another candy cane sword. Then, he crossed both the swords across his chest, making an X, as he closed his eyes. As he stood there, silently, his form completely disappeared. A moment later, two glowing orbs appeared where his eyes should have been.
”Let's teach these scrubs the difference in our skill levels.” His ethereal voice said with a cold chuckle. ”I'll show them what it means to get good.”
