Chapter 122

As James had already noted, chaos ensued the moment Z, and his party, had begun to arrive on the third floor. That was because while all of his mobs, except for the boss, were set to roam, he had made a special exception for one set of mobs. These mobs spawned directly over the portal to the third floor, and were actually tasked with defending it, and an area of about 50 feet around it. That meant, any time adventurers came through the portal, they were in for a surprise.

The mobs he was watching, currently having a lot of fun with the underprepared adventurers, were of course Jolly Dollies. Five of the adorably terrifying dollies were up in the trees, running along their platforms, laughing in high pitched, child like voices.

When Z had entered into the dungeon, two of them had actually managed to lasso their pull strings around his arms, ensnaring him and lifting him completely off of the wooden platforms in the swamp, pulling him closer to them. That, was of course, accompanied by them whispering terrifyingly ”Come play with us.”

James had figured he was about to get some easy experience right then and there, as their attack had left Z completely defenseless, but luckily for the adventurer, it seemed Turk was in a good mood.

The eagle, who had been circling around the area, Badgy in tow, had let out a loud screech when he saw Z tangled and caught, and had swiftly flown higher into the sky. The dense trees meant the eagle couldn't make much use of its flying abilities, but he was able to get high enough to drop Badgy onto the wooden pathway that the dollies were standing on. In that moment, James got to watch a bunch of animated dolls running about, giggling as they were chased by a snarling badger.

That decision by Turk had given Z enough time to break free from his hold, and he was able to regain his composure by the time Oak entered the third floor. As the rest of the Knight's came through the portal, the scene on James's third floor simply continued to grow even more ridiculous.

Badgy, to his credit, had been doing all he could against the dollies. However, one of them had managed to get the pull portion of their string around the poor beast's neck and was now riding atop him while laughing maniacally. Two others were constantly throwing their makeshift lasso's towards Turk, who as a result, was unable to get closer to attack. The two remaining Jolly Dollies were simply scampering about and laughing eerily. Every time Z and Elm tried to shoot them, they would simply duck behind a tree branch, or into one of the little huts James had made for them.

”Man, no one said we would be freaking fighting dolls. I still have nightmares from Anabelle.” Oak had his shield up and was watching the bridges above him. The group had moved a few feet away from the portal, to allow more room for Skar's party to join, and as such, were now getting onto the narrower, more rickety portions of the walkway James had created.

”Well, would you rather dollies trying to kill you from above, or a snake in your boot right about now?” Z was laughing as he launched another arrow, though a sudden enraged scream from Turk made him wince. James knew Z had a way to track his pet's health, and currently, it wasn't looking good for them.

”Don't even joke about those man.” Oak moved further away from the portal on the bridge, his eyes still watching above. ”I freaking hate snakes.”
