116 Chapter 116 (2/2)

Dungeon Core Online Glyax 40040K 2022-07-21

”And, now if I do this…” James was happy with the stats, really, he was. Especially based on how his spiritualist class worked. But he just wanted to double check, for planning sake, what would happen with his next trick. The runes on his left arm glowed again, and four more dickens appeared. Instantly, the stats on the dicken he was investigating changed.

Just as he figured, the dickens, once again, were showing that a low-level mob, especially one that buffed itself in groups, could become ridiculous in the right situations. James wasn't saying he was going to abuse this mob. But he wasn't also planning not to. Grinning, he motioned in front of himself, pulling up his menu screen once again.

From there, he went to his skill tree, and instead of selecting an additional skill from the summoner class, flipped to the spiritualist class. There, he had a single option to choose. Doing so, would open the skill tree up, giving him three more options for later, which he had already been eying. But, the first skill was what was really calling to him, especially in this given instant.

Spiritual Fortitude- While a summoned monster has greater than 50% of its maximum health, damage dealt to the adventurer the monster is bound to, is reduced by 25%.

James selected that skill immediately, applying the upgrade. He couldn't help but smile evilly as he thought about just how great that skill was going to be. With his current abilities, James knew he could summon up to 16 dickens if he wanted to, or a variety of mobs ranging from his first floor, to his third floor. Their levels would be boosted, their stats, multiplied. This meant he could create a variable force of destruction to terrify players during the Dungeon Wars.

What his enemies didn't know though, was how to focus down the appropriate targets. In most MMOs, people, especially those who specialized in PvP, would often choose to just nuke, or deal a high amount of damage, to the player, often ignoring any summoned pet or mob. This mentality, of course, was that the player often proved to be the greater threat.

With his Spiritual Fortitude skill, that meant, while they were blowing their attacks on the player, they would actually be doing less damage than intended. The other thing that he was certain no adventurer would realize, especially early on, was that because of the way the spiritualist class worked, the damage a player took, after their defense and buffs was applied, was sent to the summoned mob. Essentially, these summoned mobs were not only damage reducers now with spiritual fortitude, but they were walking extra health reserves for players.

And while James didn't have spells that would allow him to heal players, what he did have, were spells to heal his pets. He could buff their attacks, increase their defense, or heal them. In fact, he actually had multiple ways to heal them. One was a mass heal, that could heal all of his pets in a certain radius but had a long cool down. Others were heal over time spells, or single target heals.

The more James read over his skill list, and looked down at his mobs, the more he realized just how unique, and perfect for this situation, this class was. While Rue's actions likely were slightly selfish, considering she really seemed to like that berserker class, she had given James the perfect class to affect the fields of battle with. She had given him a class that not only maximized his offensive contribution to the battlefield, but essentially would allow him to keep a handful of his favorite, personally selected players, alive.

And as he had already decided, if there was anything that was going to win dungeon wars for James, it wasn't going to be his or Rue's individual skill. It was going to be the fact that his players, his adventurers, were going to blow BLANKs away. And now, if say, the Knight's Who Go Ni were all armed with their own pet dickens, that James was constantly healing and buffing… well, he had seen what the Knights could do already. And he was extremely aware of what his dickens could do. By their powers combined, he almost felt dirty for what BLANK's players were about to face.

”Alright, now that that's out of the way.” He dismissed his mobs, anticipation swelling within. He was actually extremely excited for the Dungeon Wars to start, but knew he had a few more tasks to take care of. With a glance, he saw Rue was still shopping for her own cosmetic upgrade, which was all fine and dandy in his book. After all, James still needed to improve his armor. With research level 5, James now had access to not only his first floor's armor sets, but also his second and third. And while their buffs and stats were nothing compared to how armor stats actually worked for adventurers, the improvements still mattered. Well, that and James honestly didn't want to walk around on the Fields of Battle as a Demonic Farmer.
