42 『Talent Acquisition』 (2/2)

Just then the top guild members present in E-Rantel came bursting through the doors, only to come to a crashing halt as Vertum stood up with his back to them.

”Whoa! You did all this?” One of what appeared to be a Mythril ranked Adventurer spoke, looking over the carnage that decorated the crypt.

One of them, who was silent, seemed to jealousy look over the scene. It was a one man carnage that had occured here, and he wasn't part of it.

The others however seemed rather grateful that they didn't have to deal with this situation.

”Who are you...?” One of them asked, who wasn't wearing a plaque of any kind, but was in reality the Adventurer's Guild Master.

”My name is Vertum,” the man rolled his jaw looking over those present. They seemed to be the best people in the city, but not the world. It was unlikely they were all this weak, right?

At first glance, their armor and weapons weren't bad, but they weren't high tier compared to armor and weapons found or created in the game of YGGDRASIL. They were high level newbs at best.

”Vertum? That's an unusual name.” The guild master scratched his chin. ”I'm Pluton Ainzach, Guild Master of the Adventurer's Guild.” His eyes searched the room for a few seconds, immediately sighting blatant evidence of who these beings were, before resting his eyes on him.

”Are you some sort of Worker...?” His eyes centered on the man who seemed to be dressed in attire of powerful quality.

”No,” Vertum crossed his arms over his chest. ”I'll be going now,” sounding a bit bored the being glanced away from the group. ”I'm here to meet with the Princess upon her arrival.”

The Guild Master's eyes widened slightly, ”Wha--”

Before he or anyone in the group could say another word, Vertum vanished again. Seemingly matching the story about the stranger from the guard at the front gate.

”That was a ... Peculiar character,” one of them stated rather amazed by the fact of someone being able to use the art of teleportation to leave like that. Teleportation was a rare magic spell due to its higher tier needs.

”He said he was meeting the Princess?” The man looked toward the other adventurers he had accompanied. ”Who exactly is this Vertum... Any of you know?”

The Adventurers shook their heads.

”He single handedly took care of a group belonging to the Death Cult, Zurrernorn, he didn't even look remotely fatigued either...” Though one thing had come to his attention after he was already gone. The slotted pupils of a dragon, the scales spread at the bridge of his nose. That boy, that man, was no human being but a Dragonoid.

The others didn't seem to have noticed either, or it just didn't process yet, but a dragon was within the walls of their very City. A being that could flatten the entire Fortress!

”Lets begin clean up!” Clapped the Guild Master, ”The City will pay us for our contributions.” A sweat drop forming just above the brow, he needed to talk with this legendary being, he needed to learn more about it as to make sure it doesn't plan on destroying everything.

Vertum had since appeared in the main avenue of E-Rantel, walking towards the pavilion's destination. For all the ruckus which had gone on in the Cemetery, the rest of the population seemed rather calm, as many were already asleep.

Approaching the expensive Inn reserved for the Wealthy, he stopped in front of the door for a few seconds before reaching forward and pulling it open. The moment he entered, he was greeted by the faces from the Swords of Darkness.

”Vertum-dono!” They shouted seeing him immediately as they were in the foyer that doubled as the dining area.

”Is... Is everything already dealt with?” Ninya spoke with a question, squirming slightly as she spoke. She felt a bit concerned and bothered by the fact he had gone alone despite his apparent overwhelming ability.

Raising a brow at this, he nodded. ”Everything was dealt with,” walking in and closing the door behind him, he looked over those who were present. ”Are the girls alright?”

”They're fine,” Peter stated with a nod, ”Nemu just fell asleep moments ago.”

”Ah.. Good,” Vertum placed his staff into his item box. ”In any case... I'm going to retire for the night,” the dragon yawned slightly before turning to walk toward the corridor leading to the bedrooms.

”Why don't you take Ninya with you?” Lukrut jokingly suggested as he smacked Ninya's upper back with an open hand, essentially shoving her forward. ”He is your servant after all! He can service you easier if he shares a room with you.”

Both Ninya and Vertum stared at him, as only those two could know the weight of his words.

Peter and Dyne chuckled before seeing Ninya more flushed then usual, and their resident dragon just blinking blankly at them. ”Hm?”

”Uh...Sure,” Vertum gestured for Ninya to follow him, using two fingers, before continuing his walk down towards his room that was currently vacant with one king sized bed. As she followed, he could just hear Lukrut celebrating about having a whole bed to himself, and not having to share it with another 'man.'
