64 The Battle 1 (1/2)
Despite being armed with the newly constructed nano-machine exoskeleton armour, Long Yu cautiously approached the plant step by step.
As he closed in on the 30 meters mark, his muscles became taut, ready to burst into action. As soon as he notices any movement from the plant, he was prepared to dodge.
Contrary to his expectation, the vampire plant showed no movement even after he crossed this 30 meter mark. The blood red vines from before had yet to appear either.
Everything was perfectly still. It was as if the plant was asleep, like what Li Xue Lan mentioned during her encounter.
When he got close enough to touch the trunk, Long Yu took out a single Space Splitter Mine from the system storage. His five fingers envelop around the rim of the mine, with its flat surface facing outwards.
'First one down, three more to go…' he deftly attached it on top of the first mark created by the pellets, before twisting it into armed mode.

Without stopping, Long Yu moved around the vampire plant towards the second mark on its trunk.
As he retrieved the second mine from the system storage, he heard a faint rustling sound above.
”So it finally decided to make a move…” Long Yu clicked his tongue.
The exoskeleton armour on his right leg burst into power, instantly propelling him forward as the force cracked the concrete road.
A blood red vine as thick as an adult's waist smashed onto Long Yu's original spot right after he dodged. The already cracked ground exploded into pieces of concrete which flew all over the place.
Sensing that its prey was difficult to capture, the vampire plant started sending out more vines, which creepily slithered out from its leaf covered crown.
”Now Xixi! Fire each missile in intervals like we planned,” Long Yu's shout echoed from the dashboard of the Black Shark as Xixi quickly pulled the trigger on the joystick.
*Whoosh*
A mini anti-tank missile was launched from the side of the vehicle, flying straight towards the crown of the vampire plant.
'One, two…' Xixi nervously counted each second that passed after firing the first missile.
At the same time, Long Yu was struggling to avoid the ever increasing number of barrel thick vines. They were like relentless snakes chasing him all over the place.
Luckily, the armour provided him with extreme bursts of speed every time he jumped. He was able to rely on it to dodge incoming attacks that were not possible for ordinary humans.
However, he could no longer approach the second mark and was forced to retreat backwards.
As soon as the first missile arrived, a cluster of red vines that was chasing after Long Yu, quickly changed direction and intercepted the missile.
The vampire plant had clearly sensed danger and automatically protected its important part from damage.
*Boom*
An explosion followed by a thick plume of smoke occurred from the contact of the vines and the anti-tank missile.
