Chapter 174 - 169: Battle of desperation! (1/2)
######
Southern gate, Outer wall.
A group of five thousand cavalry, the core strength of blood wigg were currently stationed outside the gate.
The war was inevitable, and their side was the one with less numbers... So the pressure on them could easily be accessed!
Whoosh!
All of a sudden, a hooded figure appeared from shadows before the group, rounded around general over wall!
” General, a large army of sixty thousand soldiers are dispatched towards us! Should we engage them in a frontal battle... or defend? ”
A half knelt ȧssasin in old age, who spotted the enemy movements ahead had made his report, waiting for orders from his general before making his move.
Whoosh!
The veins around his eyes constricted, and general who focused his vision to look afar was taken back as the march of beast men were as such!
Bunch of brutes!
” There is no exact formation in their charge! Seems like the enemies are not well adepted with battle formations, or their numbers are entirely made up with unfamiliar groups, or are they feigning ignorance to let my guard down? ”
General paused for a second and said.
” Relay my orders, archers at position over wall, Calvary should be ready to be deployed! ”
” Officers lead the front, and vice general intercept the enemy commanders, leave stronger ones to this general alone! ”
General gave a set of orders and pressured his archers on walls to annihilate as much of enemies before they actually intercept them.
Following it the blood wigg cavalry started marching to the other side of wall, getting ready to intercept the enemies any second from now.
” Ready... set... release! ”
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The officer who took charge of Blood wigg archers roared, shortly following which hundreds of arrows were released over the enemies, with an intent to make a kill.
Pu! Pu! Pu! Pu!
Pu! Pu! Pu! Pu!
One hundred... Two hundred... Three hundred... Five hundred!
Experiencing the rain of arrows from Blood wigg archers, the van guards of black armoured soldiers from orange rank base were taken a serious blow, and a little more than 500 were killed in the first release.
Though a large number of enemies were killed, it was still insignificant before the greater mass of sixty thousand.
The battle was yet to conclude and blood wigg archers were ready with the next set of arrows waiting for their commanding officer to order a release.
” Ready... set... release! ”
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Pu! Pu! Pu! Pu!
Pu! Pu! Pu! Pu!
Same as before the arrows rained down and an another set of five hundred were killed which greatly enraged the enemies.
Few seconds later.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
...
Pu! Pu! Pu! Pu!
Pu! Pu! Pu! Pu!
Six releases were made and a great number of four thousand soldiers were purged by then.
Though their killing rate was great and a great number could be killed similarly, the commanding officer had ordered the archers to retreat and regroup with cavalry as the special arrows used to kill aura kings were half way depleted, and some needed to be reserved for later battles.
The church folk had buffed the cavalry beforehand, making them feel more energetic than earlier, which boosted they confidence to intercept their enemies despite their numerical disadvantage.

” Interesting! We should probably start an archer unit out of our undead army! ”
Watching the battle from high sky, Wendy who was flying next to Mark had exclaimed her thought with a mild laughter.
Even before the true battle was started, a large chunk of the charging vanguard was trimmed down making their morale hit hard which ultimately made their charging speed to reduce, dwindling their momentum.
The blood wigg general clearly know how to exploit this strategy, and didn't hesitate wasting his special arrows to decrease the morale of enemy soldiers.
” Wendy, their battle has already begun, seems like the ours is about to happen soon! ”
Glazing at the fortress from afar, which had yet to dispatch five powerhouses of their strength, Mark warned her casually.
” If it was before, Wendy wouldn't be sure about victory. But now... Only two old chiefs staying reclusive in that fort could bȧrėly considered a threat at Wendy's power! ”
Though she appeared proud and a bit too arrogant with her words. She Wendy had the capacity to stay proud, as she already have reached the peak of aura emperor realm. So, unless a half step transcendent or higher popped out, she wouldn't necessarily feel threatened.
Though she could kill those five, all by herself. Dealing with the aftermath was troublesome.
Hundreds of half mutants might probably be nurtured by those powers who could wreak havoc, and chances of western warlords palace to be wiped out the existence was prevalent.
” Seems they are more impatient than us! Wendy let's go to that fort, I wouldn't want the palace to be destroyed in our part of battle! ”
Noticing the movements of those five who had exited they reclusion, Mark rushed towards them to prevent these old monsters from making the western warlords palace their battle ground.
At the same time in the southern gate, the general had almost reached the enemy troops ready to intercept them.
1000 paces... 800 paces... 600 paces...
Both the armies marched at great speed and were few seconds away from contact.
Neigh!!!
