Chapter 174 - The Staircase of Despair (1/2)
“Don’t come over!”
“Ahhhhh!!”
Martha shouted as she woke up from her dream. Her forehead was wet with cold sweat.
She panted heavily as she looked around in fear.
Where was the scarecrow?!
She did not see any scarecrow. There were stairs all around her. Only then did she realize that she was sleeping in the cold stairwell.
Strange, why was she here?
And that scarecrow, was it really just a dream?
How could it be so real!
She clearly remembered the classroom that made her despair, and even remembered the scarecrow’s rough face made of straw!
And that touch, she still remembered it deeply.
How could this be a simple dream!
Martha could not believe it, but she was not sure about the current situation.
Moreover, this school building was very strange. She had been wandering around here for several days, but she still had not walked out. Obviously, it could not be measured by common sense.
She stood up and found that it was wet under her body.
After taking a closer look, she realized that it was her own work.
She was actually scared shitless by a dream that she did not have… Martha felt her face getting hot and decided to bury this matter in her stomach and not tell anyone.
By the way, why did she come to a stairwell?
In her memory, she did not remember coming here.
“Where exactly is this place? Let’s take a look first.”
After saying that, Martha stepped on the stairs.
However, what puzzled her was that after walking along the stairs for a long time, she still did not see the corridor.
After a few minutes, she started to panic.
She quickened her pace and almost ran, but, in the end, she still did not see the corridor.
Martha stopped and looked up along the handrail.
It seemed… not far.
She was only a few steps away, and she saw something different.
She continued to walk up, this time very carefully. After all, the stairs were very strange, and the things she had experienced in the past two days were very strange.
Finally, she came to the top, which was what she saw was different.
It was a wall!
At the end of the stairs, there was actually a wall!
Martha’s eyes suddenly turned red, and she cried.
After so many days of torture, her mental defense had been reduced to a certain extent. It was not an exaggeration to say that if she met the previous scarecrow now, she would probably be scared to death.
She was just a little girl, so she had never experienced such things.
Not to mention, even a man might not be able to endure such a scene. It was already not easy for her to hold on until now.
After crying, Martha began to go downstairs again.
She wanted to know if there would be a way out downstairs.
One had to admit that this girl was very strong.
She had not cried for more than a few minutes, but she was back on her feet.
But the more she looked at her students, the more Flanders she liked them.
Like a toy, a toy that could be broken at once was not attractive to anyone. A toy that never broke was what children and adults liked the most.
And the students at Tensley University were the toys in Flanders’s eyes.
Tap, tap, tap.
The footsteps in the stairwell were very fast. Martha was rushing downstairs.
After a few minutes of footsteps, there was no sound at all.
Because Martha had already reached the stairs.
She looked at the wall in front of her in a daze, and a sense of despair arose in her heart.
“Where is this place?”
“How can there be such a building?”
“First, the scarecrow in the classroom, and now the neverending stairs. Am I still dreaming?”
Martha sobbed a few times.
She began to try to wake herself up. Whether it was pinching herself or hitting her head against the concrete wall, it was useless. She even felt pain.
“It’s really not a dream?”
“Then how did I get in?”
