Was Chen Yang really stupid?

If he was really stupid then he wouldn’t become the only one who was admitted to Shanghai University from his hometown. If he was really stupid then he wouldn’t be able to grasp all those kinds of knowledge that Chen Yang gave to him in just half of a year time.
