Chapter 12: A coincidental meeting with Ding Sheng (2)
As an arms trafficker, bribing the police is part of the normal.
On the surface, those who sell firearms are the wanted targets of the police and governments, but in reality, they are partners. In Chen An’s opinion, the kingpins of arms trafficking are actually no different from traders in the market. The true producers and the true controllers are actually the 5 states in the United Nations and not them.
The number of weapons they sell in an entire year can’t even compare to the number the 5 states sell in a single day.
But regardless, there are indeed some people in this world that couldn’t be bought. Even if they knew the rules of the world, they still held on tight to their morals and principles.
An example would be this young man sitting beside him, Ding Sheng. Ever since he appeared 5 years ago, this Interpol agent with a seemingly bright future ahead of him, loves seeking trouble with Chen An. And neither women nor money could move this man.
‘Yes, I heard that the dentist here is really good. Since I live in the neighbourhood, I decided to drop by for a checkup.’ Ding Sheng gave the bespectacled, decent-looking middle-aged man a friendly smile. With guileless eyes, he then asked sincerely, 'You too?’
This was the first time Chen An saw Ding Sheng wear such a radiant smile that even carried hints of innocence. One must know that in all their previous encounters, Ding Sheng had only ever presented him with a harsh demeanor. His eyes would glare tightly at Chen An with fire spitting out of them as though he couldn’t wait to whip out his gun and shoot down the war monger before him.
Chen An smiled breezily as he pointed at his braces in his slightly opened mouth. 'Follow-up visit.’
'Teeth straightening?’ Ding Sheng paused before he started chuckling. It wasn’t a mocking laugh; and when this handsome youth laughed he looked very attractive with his eyes curved into crescents.
'There are very few adults in China who would still straighten their teeth, but I feel that this is good thing.’
Surprisingly, the inflexible, stubborn and cumbersome Interpol agent in Chen An’s impression is actually a cheerful and lively brat in private. A chatterbox whose chatter won’t ceased once it was opened; he even shared his own childhood teeth straightening experience to the virtual 'stranger’ that is Chen An.
While he listened, Chen silently lamented to himself. Before his rebirth, he never would have an opportunity to meet this private version of Ding Sheng.
