17 17. Hell is coming (1/2)

”Arkael.” He greeted me, walking away from the portal behind him half naked.

”Ranulf, how...why? What happened?” I asked him breathing heavily, as the air surrounding the portal was getting thicker.

It wasn't until when the thin layer of portal was closing, that the surrounding air was gradually back to its normal density. I sighed as it was getting easier for me to breathe.

”Hell on earth, we need to get the situation under control. Since you surfaced, we had occurrences where several human witches summons demons from the deepest pits of hell. And it had brought havoc to our balance under ground...”

”Arkael?”

Goddamn... I completely forgot about Shani. Ranulf looked at me, smirking.

She was by myside moments later, then gasped loudly when she sees the fallen Angel.

”Let's get inside.” I took Shani's hand in mine. I know she was mine, but the jealousy stirred heavily in my gut when she was still looking at him with wonders. Ranulf followed us from behind, the bottom end of his blackened wings graze the grass under him.

”Is he what I really think he is?” She whispered beside me, her hand gripped me tighter.

”Fallen Angel.” I answered and confirmed her thoughts.

She smiled excitedly. Damn...this is going to take all of myself control. Being human sucks!

Ranulf looked out of place inside Shani's comfy little cottage. His wings took alot of space, and his body was displaying too much skin for her eyes. I was not liking it one bit.

”Speak...” I told him as Shani was by my side seconds later. Her arm snaked behind my back, and rubbed it gently. I was purring like a kitten on the inside. What the hell..

She smiled at me sweetly. Somehow she knew that Ranulf's presence agitated me.

”As I said before, there's an emerging chaos and might be the biggest demon crossing that we ever had in thousands of years. We need stop it. Yes we, meaning you included and also her, your witch mate.” He stopped, and let us process his words.

Shani was tensed beside me, she instinctively look at me waiting for my answer. She knew, somehow she knew that Florence's vision was about to come true.

”Hey, its okay. We can do this. What ever it is.” I said to her calmly, kissing her hair and pulling her into my chest.

”Well...while it's nice seeing you getting settled in, but we really must hurry Arkael and...”

”Shani, her name is Shani. But she will not be coming with us. I'm not going to put her life at stake.” I told Ranulf sternly. Though I know it was a very slim chance, but I just got to try it.

”She will, or you won't survive. The oracles from the north and east kingdom of hell had joined forces, and they all had foresee that you will die, and our mission will fail. The only one that could stop it, is your witch bride.”

”She is NOT going to hell.” I slammed my hand on the kitchen counter, making her gasped beside me.

”I'm sorry Shani, but you are not going to hell. She will not withstand the fall, Ranulf. This is not happening, I will go alone. I will survive, she will stay here and be safe.”

I could already imagine the pain, that I would have to endure from the fall back to hell. How my body would have to adjust, how it would feel when my skin burnt, how painful it would be when every bone in my body were crushed. Then after whole thing was done, the transformation back to my human body would be equally painstaking.

”I'm going.” She said with her clear words beside me. My head spun to her immediately. What the...

”You are not going back there and leave me so you can die, just because you don't want me to die too! That is not very smart Arkael! For a former king, I expect better solution from you.” She voiced her thoughts firmly, making Ranulf smirked at me.

”I like her, maybe she would have me when you're dead.” The king of hell move forward and spread the tip of his wing to reach her cheek.

I growled at him and pulled her behind my back, taking my possession away from his reach.
