In Doctor Zhou's experience, when someone put his hands behind his back, not only did it show that he was capable, the patients and their family members would also be calmer, and their attitude would be better as well. Afterall, if they placed their hands behind their backs, they would look like leaders.
In truth, Doctor Zhou could be considered as the leader in the emergency room, because the chief physicians and associate chief physicians usually preferred the operating theater and resuscitation room.
Ren Qi had no choice but to follow Doctor Zhou. He knew he was the next doctor to be exploited by Doctor Zhou.
Luckily, Doctor Zhou was willing to teach something. This allowed Ren Qi to slowly calm down. After all, he was not familiar with the emergency room.
The reception nurse immediately sent a patient over and said, ”Doctor Zhou, the patient says that he swallowed a shrimp head whole during his breakfast… Now, his throat is not feeling well, and it's hard for him to swallow…”
”Why eat shrimps for breakfast?” Ren Qi could not understand.
The patient looked at Ren Qi so calmly that he even looked aloof.
Ren Qi coughed, and he quickly schooled his expression to one of calmness as well.
”Doctor Ren, please give him a diagnosis,” Doctor Zhou said with the tone of an examiner, and he passed all the workload to Ren Qi.
Ren Qi hesitated for a few seconds and said, ”So, is there a foreign object in his throat?”
”Yes,” Doctor Zhou replied and asked, ”And?”
”And… I'm to take it out?” Ren Qi whispered.
Doctor Zhou glared at Ren Qi.
”Firstly, use a laryngeal mirror. A fiber laryngoscope is okay too…” Ren Qi thought about it and, finally, he said something useful.
Doctor Zhou nodded. ”Let's start, then.”
He moved his hands from behind his back, but he just placed them in front of him, making it clear that he did not intend to do anything.
At this moment, the family members that followed the patients rushed forward and said, ”Excuse me… Doctor, I would like to say something, I hope you won't be upset.”
The patient's family member was a fifty-year-old man. He wore a pair of glasses and looked like an intellectual.
Doctor Zhou would not spend much of his stamina on consultation. So, he gave the patient's family member a smile and said, ”It's okay, please go on.”
”My son just came back from the USA. You know how it is. He kept praising the USA. So, I told him that China's medical treatment is fabulous too. I even used a fish bone as an example. In the USA, it costs a lot to take out a fish bone. But in our own country, this process only costs a few RMB, and we only need a few minutes to get it done.” Then, the man smiled and said, ”Doctor, can you please give my son a lesson?”
His words were reasonable… and they also revealed that there was a story behind this entire accident…
If this happened to hardworking doctors, most of them would perform the surgery.
However, when Doctor Zhou thought about this, he said, ”In our country, we can't promise that it costs only a few RMB and takes only a few minutes to get this surgery done. We'll check first. If we can see it using a laryngeal mirror, it'll be a simple surgery.”
”Okay, okay.” The patient's family member could only nod.
Doctor Zhou instructed Ren Qi to continue.
Ren Qi turned around and asked in puzzlement, ”You were talking about fish bones just now, right? Did he deliberately swallow the shrimp head?”
The father said seriously, ”How could it be possible? Our family just eats shrimp this way!”
