987 Not Resisting (1/2)
At the operating theater, under the green wall were six medical staff who wore blue scrubs. They were nervous, but they still worked in an organized way.
Ling Ran stood at the position of the chief surgeon and looked at Department Director Yuan who was adjusting the instruments and devices.
For some unknown reason, Department Director Yuan decided that he was the only one who was suited to deal with the instruments and devices in the operating theater of the Cardiology Department. Because of his persistence in this, Ling Ran and Zuo Cidian could only tacitly agree to his insistence.
In fact, Ling Ran was not interested in the preoperative preparation on the devices. He would at most only check through it once before he let his subordinates do the rest.
If Department Director Yuan was willing to do this work, Ling Ran was fine with it.
Doctor Lai stood beside Department Director Yuan and helped him. He felt sorry for Department Director Yuan and almost cried when he saw how busy his department director was.
Department Director Yuan was struggling because he was concerned about the survival, the rise, and the fall of the Cardiology Department.
At that moment, Department Director Yuan did not look like a department director anymore!
Department Director Yuan was the department director of the Cardiology Department of Yun Hua Hospital. In Yun Hua City or even in Changxi Province, those in this position would be greatly respected. The respect was not directed to just their position, but also to the knowledge that the person with this position had.
Regardless of whether the patient was a rich businessman or an officer who had high authority, if someone had a problem with their heart, they would definitely look for the department director of the Cardiology Department. Only 20% of the patients who were crazy would choose to go to the People's Liberation Army General Hospital and the provincial hospital.
Doctor Lai had seen his department director acting and energetically, and at that time, he looked very cool.
Doctor Lai could still remember his department director's voice when he taught them, and that was very cool.
Doctor Lai could still remember his department director's look when he scolded his subordinates, and that was… something he did not want to see again…
However, Department Director Yuan always gave Doctor Lai a strong sense of security.
Even when Department Director Yuan faced a senior administrative officer or the hospital's leader, he would not become as… humble as he was today.
”Department director, let me do this.” Doctor Lai bowed and whispered to the department director who was busy with the devices.
But Department Director Yuan glared at Doctor Lai fiercely, and he said, ”Did you forget what I said?”
”No.” Doctor Lai lowered his head.
He still remembered what the department director had told him.
The devices in the Cardiology Department were purchased one after another in the past decade. Each time, there would be different pharmaceutical companies, pharmaceutical sales representatives, and leaders who participated in the purchasing process. So, the instruments and devices purchased at the end would not be the perfect package.
But even though they did not manage to buy the perfect packing, they were still able to use the devices and instruments by mixing and matching them, and this was the result of the hard work poured forward by the cardiologists in the Cardiology Department over the years.
For example, the oxygen suction unit and flowmeter had never been accurate before. When it reached the last bar, they always needed to pay attention to oxygen flow, and that resulted in a necessity to always prepare extra oxygen bags in the operating theater.
Another example was the ECG monitor package. Even if it was placed on its original rack, there would be broad wave interruptions no matter how it was adjusted. Only when it was torn down and put at the opposite would the broad wave interruptions disappear…
The Cardiology Department was the department that earned the most for the hospital, and the department also had the most imported devices. The minor problems in these devices used to cause everyone in the Cardiology Department to be incredibly frustrated and annoyed.
However, today, this advantage became the last defense line of the Cardiology Department.
Department Director Yuan was willing to humble himself and worked on his own to secure this defense line. Although it did not mean anything much, Doctor Lai could understand the department director's mentality.
Just as the department director said, once a doctor had first class skills, he would have nothing to fear unless he was facing a top-class doctor.
Doctor Lai looked at Ling Ran who was at the operating table through the corner of his eyes.
'Top-class doctor, huh?'
He believed what the department director said, somewhat, but he was unwilling to accept it.
Although the interventional surgery in the Cardiology Department was much easier than hepatectomy, it could not be performed by any Tom, Dick, and Harry, and these people were definitely not qualified to perform a top-class surgery.
Even Department Director Yuan would only say that he was a first-class doctor although he had performed more than two thousand interventional cardiovascular surgeries. He would not dare to declare himself as a top-class doctor. In that case, Doctor Lai would not trust his department director's words that much.
