Ling Ran prescribed some medication for the patient with the atrial septal defect and gave the nurse some orders before rushing back to resuscitate patients.

Atrial septal defect closure was considered a small heart surgery, and it could be carried out as an outpatient surgery in many hospitals, which means that the patients could leave the hospital on the day of the surgery itself. For the purpose of claims, the patients would be admitted to the hospitals. However, the patients would actually only stay at the hospital for a few hours. After their family members received some instructions, they could recuperate at home.

However, even though it was an outpatient surgery, it was still a scheduled surgery. Hence, it was different from emergency surgeries, where the focus was to deal with the main problems. Before receiving atrial septal defect closure, a patient had to go for a transesophageal echocardiography, electrocardiography and chest X-ray. They also had to consume aspirin beforehand. All of this required arrangements to be made.

After having breakfast the following morning, Ling Ran called all his subordinates along and headed to the Cardiology Department.

The equipment and facilities required for interventional surgeries were relatively different, and even though they were placed on the surgical floor, they belonged to various departments. Since Ling Ran wanted to borrow them, he naturally had to explain where he was coming from.

After Huo Congjun and Zuo Cidian got a confirmation from Ling Ran, they showed their support. Moreover, they even asked the other doctors in the treatment group to accompany Ling Ran to receive the patient.

Ling Ran led the way as they walked toward the Cardiology Department.

Behind him, Zuo Cidian stood a little to his right. Lu Wenbin and Zhang Anmin were also there, and all of them walked around Yu Yuan to protect her as she might get trampled on due to her height.

Aside from this, Huang Maoshi from Changxi Medical Company and Mai Chun from Yunli Medical Company were there with engineers from their respective companies.

Even though there were quite a lot of people, they were silent, and they appeared exceptionally well-trained.

They walked calmly through the main hall of the Emergency Medical Center and divided themselves into two batches to enter the elevator.

It was only then that Lu Wenbin and the rest of the people who were still waiting for the elevator breathed a sigh of relief.

”I'm so nervous. I feel like we're going to war.” Lu Wenbin took a deep breath when he saw that the elevator doors had slid close.

And he was more earnest in doing so compared to Yu Yuan and the others.

Lu Wenbin's face twitched a few times, and he did not refute what Zhang Anmin said. He merely nodded a little and said, ”It's a pity that atrial septal defect closure is not a major surgery…”

”We should always start small. Moreover, it's heart surgery, and it's atrial septal defect closure at that… It's a good start.” Zhang Anmin tried to flash a heroic smile, but no matter how he tried, he was unable to look like a man of justice.

Ma Yanlin, who was standing beside them, looked a little pale. But he agreed. ”Heart surgeries are pretty good.”

The profits made by various departments were determined by the way money was distributed in the hospital. Artificial hip joints and knee joints used in the Orthopedics Department for joint replacement surgeries cost tens of thousands of RMB.

However, it was tough to work in the Orthopedics Department, where the surgeons had to lift heavy objects like thighs, and things were a lot easier in the Cardiology Department. Whether a person was talking about the stents that even laymen knew about or occluders which were quite rarely used, they were both pricey medical consumables. Moreover, due to the difference in technology levels between doctors in China and foreign doctors, the prices of these medical consumables in China were often hiked.

From what Zhang Anmin knew, doctors from the Cardiology Department almost never carried out freelance surgeries.

What kind of life must they be living and how much money must they be making to be able to resist freelance surgeries?
