When the surgery entered the fourth hour, the visitation room became jam-packed.
Many people were standing just now, but now, their legs gave way and many started sitting down.
Faulkner sat down in the front row. But he looked absent-minded, agitated, and dazed.
According to his original plan and how he imagined things would progress when he first received the invitation, Faulkner's trip to China was to earn money. The surgery which had been expected to be held between six to ten hours and less than twelve hours would be completed in two parts. Then, he could earn the expenses for the half-month summer camp for his children. The plan seemed perfect and made him appear like a loving father, and no matter how he boasted about it, it was appropriate.
However, Faulkner felt like he was in a lecture right now.
The skills of the young Chinese doctor at the ground floor were solid, and it was visibly so. He was so strong that Faulkner had the urge to take notes as he watched up to this point
If this had happened ten years ago or even five years ago, he would happily watch even at the cost of no pay whatsoever. After all, no matter how much money was paid, strong skills were still the most important thing for a surgeon.
However, since he saw the scene of his wife getting really cosy with the secondhand car dealer, Faulkner had changed his mind.
No matter how strong his skills were and how well the surgery was performed, what was the use in it? He could not even compare to a secondhand car dealer. The guy was just twenty years younger than him, looked slightly handsome, had more hair, was taller, more muscular, had a larger underwear size, sweeter mouth, gentler, and was more understanding. But why was he just better than the doctor from Mayo Clinic?
It did not make sense at all, which also meant that it was totally useless being a good doctor.
Therefore, Faulkner worked as an official high-income middle-aged man who earned from consultations. He became quiet and relaxed, and he would watch porn when he had nothing to do. When he was free, he would go to a pub and pick up women with ”I am Doctor Faulkner”...
Who could expect that even a little wish like this could not come true?
Who could expect him taking a one-day flight over and ended up attending a lecture?
Who would expect him not earning any extra income, and still needing to watch a younger and better looking doctor perform the surgery that he was the best at, surpassing him at every step?
”What are we doing here, actually?” Faulkner could not help but lament.
”You earn money by just watching a surgery, isn't that good?” Dobin from New York chuckled. He was very calm, and he was totally fine with or without performing the surgery. If he did the surgery, then he would go to Las Vegas. If he did not perform the surgery, he would be going to Macau. It was a win-win situation.
Faulkner was not very close with him, so he just said, ”You're behaving like a puppet. Are you clapping hands for the Chinese doctors? If I need to earn money like this, I'm more willing to go to Japan. At least they will be more respectful.”
”I thought you would go to whichever place that gives you more money.” Dobin smirked obnoxiously.
Faulkner shrugged. ”There are a lot of daily tasks in Mayo.”
”Then, you can take a good rest on this trip.”
”The surgery is not finished yet.”
”With such gorgeous skills, would we be able to solve any problem that he can't?” Dobin glanced at Lao Yongyong either intentionally or unintentionally. Based on his experience and what he had seen so far in his life, he also suspected that Lao Yongyong was on an armed patrol, and in fact, he was doing a reverse armed patrol.
Faulkner pursed his lips. He was not willing to agree with Dobin, so he only watched Ling Ran's surgical operation and said, ”They are really gorgeous.”
”Chinese doctors improve their skills very quickly.” Corbert the German only joined the conversation at this moment. Due to his relationship with medical intermediaries, he had been going in and out of China many times over the recent years, and he could be considered to be rather well-informed.
The two American doctors showed faint smiles without giving any response.
