864 Little Dark Room (1/2)

\”Associate Chief Physician Deng, what can I do for you?\” The senior nurse of the special care unit stood up. As someone who had been a full-time circulating nurse and who gained the achievement of scolding at least one hundred doctors, when she faced doctors below the rank of a chief physician, she could do so boldly.

Associate Chief Physician Deng was a little diffident. After he looked at the neatly bandaged gauze, he found that there was no exudation and no oozing of blood. He raised his eyebrows and said, \”I want to examine the patient's recovery…\”

\”The patient just finished his surgery. You may come again after the person changes his dressing.\” The senior nurse stood up. She was generally polite, but her gaze was quite fierce, just like how she looked at the junior doctors when she noticed their hair slipped out of their surgical caps.

Associate Chief Physician Deng had been a junior doctor too. He coughed a couple of times decisively and said, \”I'm rushing home, I only need to ask a few questions about the patient's condition for a while.\”

The senior nurse did not make a sound and shifted to the side as she stared at Associate Chief Physician Deng.

\”How are you feeling?\” Associate Chief Physician Deng felt a little guilty as he looked at the patient.

The patient who just regained consciousness moved his lips and laboriously said, \”...I'm okay…\”

From the looks of it, the patient did not look okay at all.

However, according to Associate Chief Physician Deng's experience, being able to regain consciousness the same day he received hepatectomy was good news.

Associate Chief Physician Deng looked at the patient's expression, picked up the nursing record at the end of the bed, and went through it. He turned to the nurse, who was now on high alert, and asked, \”Do you have a video of the surgery?\”

\”You can ask from Doctor Yu,\” the nurse replied.

\”Where is Doctor Yu?\” Associate Chief Physician Deng asked.

\”Right behind you,\” the senior nurse answered.

Associate Chief Physician Deng turned around and heard a voice,

\”Here.\” She may have been small, but she was loud.

Associate Chief Physician Deng could not help but be surprised, but he quickly schooled his expression so as not to show that he was shocked.

\”Associate Chief Physician Deng, you want to have a look at the video of the surgery?\” Yu Yuan did not make any fuss. Since Ling Ran's age did not match with his status in the medical community, the potential challengers Ling Ran encountered had also inevitably increased, especially since the live broadcast system from Yunli Medical Company was used by more people in a larger area.

Doctors from the General Surgery Department were all normal challengers, and Yu Yuan herself had dealt with a few of them.

For Yu Yuan, the challengers in Changxi Province were not really a threat.

Associate Chief Physician Deng was a little worried. His intention had been seen through. He laughed and said, \”This patient was sent here by me, and I am a little uneasy. Of course, I'm talking about being uneasy about the patient's condition…\”

\”I'll make a room for you. You can watch the video yourself. You are not allowed to make a copy or record it, understand?\” Yu Yuan explained with familiar ease.

Associate Chief Physician Deng hummed and thought about what she just said a while ago. It felt as though it was what he heard when he was younger back then…

Yu Yuan led Associate Chief Physician Deng to a corner once they got out the door. After a long walk, they reached a room with a television set shining and with thick curtains covering the windows.

At the other end of the television set, were several shabby leather and cloth couches with their backs turned to the door. They were not placed neatly, but surprisingly, people could be found on the couches.

\”Close the door.\” The voice of a person inside rose, and it was mixed with heavy breathing as well as the sound of bodies moving.

Yu Yuan pointed forward and said, \”There's still one hour left for the video.\”

Associate Chief Physician Deng hesitated for a few seconds. For a while, he did not want to go into the room. There was a stench in the room, but the image on the television attracted Associate Chief Physician Deng, and it made him step into the room involuntarily.

\”Call me if you need anything.\” Yu Yuan drew the curtain and left swiftly.

Associate Chief Physician Deng's lips moved. He did not go out of the room in the end, so he found an empty space at a corner and sat down.

*Creak*

The noise that the really old couch made was grating to the ears.

Several people looked over with discontent, and their eyes shone with a fierce light.

Associate Chief Physician Deng smiled bashfully. In the dim room, everyone's status was a mere illusion.

On the screen, the video continued playing.

Associate Chief Physician Deng quickly composed himself and focused on the screen.

Familiar and unfamiliar figures took each other's places while the camera lens moved about in the operating theater.

It was a very typical hepatectomy.

Associate Chief Physician Deng had seen surgeries similar to this a number of times. He would even see something similar during various meetings occasionally, but most of the time, he would just smile and turn around.
