The assistants whispered among themselves, while the patient and the onlookers arduously kept up a conversation. However, Ling Ran who was the chief surgeon did not utter a single word as he operated on Tian Guozheng.
If he were operating on Tian Guozheng in Yun Hua Hospital, Ling Ran would only need an assistant who would be operating the arthroscope to execute the surgery. This was also why he brought Yu Yuan and Ma Yanlin to Brazil. Lu Wenbin and Zhang Anmin were more skilled compared to them, and while Ling Ran was not around, they could operate on more patients. This way, they could gain more experience while filling up the hospital beds that became empty after patients got discharged.
Of course, it would be impossible for them to fill up all the hospital beds. But by the time there were a lot of empty hospital beds, Ling Ran should be back in Yun Hua Hospital already.
Overall, Ling Ran was very relaxed and at ease.
As the patient, Tian Guozheng was tremendously nervous. His butler was also very nervous, and even the doctors who were standing around the operating table and watching the surgery were feeling the stress. However, Ling Ran was not the kind of person who got affected by the atmosphere around him.
The atmosphere around Ling Ran was often weird. For unknown reasons, the people around him would be anxious, stressed, shy, or experience other emotions. Hence, Ling Ran had long since avoided analyzing the thought processes of those around him. Not only were they disorderly, but they were also illogical.
It had always been Ling Ran's habit to focus on his own tasks.
As long as he carried out his own tasks well, all the problems around him would be solved automatically. This had always been the way Ling Ran functioned, and today was no exception.
In reality, as the surgery progressed, the attitude of the people around Ling Ran changed too.
Yu Yuan and Ma Yanlin who were acting as assistants have come to realize that the progress of the surgery would not be affected by the patient's anxiety or the cameras around them. Hence, they became more focused. Department Director Li, Wallace, and the other doctors watching the surgery saw that Ling Ran had no desire to engage in conversation at all and was fully focused on the surgery. Moreover, they could not help but focus on the operating table when they saw that the surgery was progressing without a hitch.
The random onlookers in the operating theater, including Brandon, who was uploading images and videos to the internet, were swept along by Ling Ran's momentum. The way Ling Ran was focused on the surgery had affected them and changed the way they thought, and they focused on the surgery as well.
Brandon, who was holding the camera, started talking about the surgery itself. ”Arthroscopy is a type of keyhole surgery. An incision that functions as the keyhole is made on the knee, and the arthroscope which functions as the key is inserted into the incision. It's just like opening a lock with a key. Of course, the difference between opening a lock and performing arthroscopy is that arthroscopy involves plenty of tools…”
Next to Brandon, the butler said nonchalantly, ”Opening a lock requires a lot of tools too…”
Brandon paused for a moment and said, ”The difference between arthroscopy and opening a lock is that during arthroscopy, we can see what's going on inside the knee joint on the screen through the use of an endoscope.”
”You can do the same when opening a lock too. You can see what's going on inside the keyhole on the screen…” The butler continued arguing about this based entirely on the standpoint of an outsider.
Brandon hummed in acknowledgment and said slowly as he looked at the butler, ”Which is why I said that arthroscopy is a type of keyhole surgery.”
The butler gave him a thumbs up.
”In conclusion, the good thing about arthroscopy is that it inflicts a small amount of pain, there's low chances of infection, and the recovery time is short. You guys shouldn't underestimate these benefits. When it comes to orthopedic surgery, infection is a very serious problem. Most complications that occur as a result of orthopedic surgeries are caused by infection. The advent of arthroscopy lowers the risk of infection and makes things a lot better for patients.” Brandon explained things without going in-depth.
He had uploaded a few hundred videos to YouTube and already knew how the viewers were like. Hence, he would not go in-depth when talking about medical stuff.
When Tian Guozheng, who was receiving surgery, heard what Brandon said, he became a little calmer.
His English was pretty good. Not only could he understand what Brandon was saying, but he was also able to detect the hidden meaning behind Brandon's words. He could feel that the surgery was going pretty well, and his entire being relaxed.
Soon, Ling Ran shifted his gaze away from the screen.
Tian Guozheng, who had been paying close attention to Ling Ran, became anxious again. He fixed his gaze on Ling Ran as he wanted to know what Ling Ran was about to do.
The butler smiled and said, ”Mister Guozheng, it's normal even for thieves who are opening safe deposit boxes to take a short break.”
Tian Guozheng grunted and asked, ”Does my knee look like a safe deposit box to you?”
