8 Chapter 8: Wife and Son (1/2)

There was an awkard silence in the room afterwards.

Laurice opened her eyes widely it nearly fall on it's socket. She turned abruptly to look at the man who almost frightened her to death.

'What does he mean?!'

Sid was watching Laurice and felt something amiss. His brows furrowed when she turned to his direction with a stupefied look on her pale yet beautiful face. He could not guess what was going on on her head.

”What do you mean?” Laurice finally managed to speak her mind and felt a shiver down her spine thinking about what he could possibly want to do to her.

'I was feeling depressed and all and this is how he comforts me? Is that it?'

She was in his turf. How could she even possibly leave? Is this the part where she has to scream out loud for help? Will anybody help her then?

”What are you so flustered about?” Sid interrupted her thoughts. He couldn't fathom why Laurice was suddenly panicking.

He couldn't read women's minds. In fact, he doesn't know much about women at all. He personally don't know how to deal with them. He was only probably acting on instinct towards Laurice.

Well he only has his mother in the family besides his two other brothers. He absolutely have no experience with women especially with someone odd like her.

He heaved a sigh.

Women are just too sensitive and unpredictable based on his own understanding.

Sid somehow came up with a thought that the only possible way to understand women was to converse with them.

”I just want you to rest here for a bit. I've already asked the kitchen to prepare us food. They will bring them over any minute. I've also instructed someone to bring over some warm compress for your eyes. You can even take a warm bath if you want to. Butler Han shall bring a change of clothes for you.”

”Huh? Oh! oh! Is that so? Then, I shall thank you!”

Laurice stumped on her words and suddenly realized that she have misunderstood him all along.

'Hehe. That was stupid of me. I guess i've had too much caffeine that's why my thought process is somehow getting out of control.'

After finally being able to subdue her mind and body she walked over the queen-sized bed willingly. She sat on one corner and let her back relax on the cushioned panel headboard.

While Sid also remained inside the room and took a seat for himself at the club chair on the opposite corner of the room and held a book in his hands.

”Where's Little Louie?” Laurice was reminded of the little young master.

Sid pulled out his phone from his packet and dialed a number.

”Send Louie upstairs.” He simply ordered.

It didn't take long before she could hear light foosteps coming from outside the room. The door was left ajar and soon she saw the little child enter with a cup of hot tea on his hands.

”Be careful, sweetie!” Laurice leaned over however the little one was quick on his toes and was able to reach her first and only reminded her to stay put.

”Mommy i can handle it. Please don't worry. Here have some tea.”

”Oh! That's so sweet of you darling. Did you make this for me?”

Louie pursed his lips shyly and nodded.

Laurice smiled at the little one who was so thoughtful and was looking really adorable. Her heart melted.

”Thank you darling.” She took a sip of her tea and warmth instantly enveloped her body.

”It's really good darling. I love drinking green tea you know. Thank you so much.” She kissed the Louie's chubby cheeks in gratitude.

The little one was surprised with the sudden gesture, his cheeks blushed.

”Oh! So cute! Darling you're so red! Are you getting shy? Hmm?” She continued to tease the little one. Her mood was lifted and her features started to soften the moment Louie showed up.

'The little one sure is a healer.'

Laurice wasn't particularly fond of kids. She doesn't have nephews nor nieces and her cousins were all grown up so she was basically surrounded by adults that's why she doesn't know how to interact or properly take care of children. They seem to be quite a handful and she doesn't know the extent of her patience when faced with a toddler. But surprisingly she actually likes babies a lot. 'Cute Babies!'

She finished off her tea and the little one himself placed the empty cup on the side table.

'What a gentleman!' Laurice thought little Louie was such a clever and gentle boy that she wouldn't mind having a baby just like him.

'What?! What baby?! Whose baby?'

She shook her head and dismissed the ridiculous idea.
