The air conditioner made Yu Meixia’s apartment very cooling.

Dong Xuebing had wanted to stay for dinner. Still, the County’s Deputy Party Secretary Cao called him to go to the County Party office. Dong Xuebing and Cao Xupeng have a good relationship. The latter will call him directly if he needs him for anything. But he had got his secretary to call him instead. This means it should be work-related and might be about his transfer.

Yu Meixia walks out of the kitchen. “Are you going out?”

“Yes. I need to go to the County Party Committee building now.” Dong Xuebing smiled. “Don’t prepare my dinner.”

Yu Meixia nodded and carried his bag and shoes over. “Drive safely.”

Dong Xuebing laughed. “You are as naggy as my mother. I know how to wear my shoes.”

Yu Meixia ignored him and continued to tie his shoelaces.

Dong Xuebing is touched. Yu Qianqian is in her room, and he stroked Sister Yu’s face gently. “Have you considered what I told you previously? I might be transferred to the City District, but I don’t know which Department yet. I am worried for you and Qianqian here. If you want to go with me, you can sell the apartment and buy one in the City District. Qianqian can also transfer to a school there, and your job… the Residents’ committee is hiring, right? Try applying for it, and I will help you get it.”

Yu Meixia nodded. “Ok. I will listen to you.”

Dong Xuebing pinched her cheeks lightly. “You will decide for yourself, and I am not forcing you.”

Yu Meixia blushed and bit her lips. “I would like to go too. Qianqian and I will follow wherever you go.” She felt more embarrassed after saying this.

Dong Xuebing entered the building and went upstairs to Secretary Cao’s Office. He asked his secretary, and the secretary told him that Secretary Cao is waiting for him inside.

Knock… knock… Dong Xuebing knocks on Deputy Party Secretary Cao’s office.

“Come in.”

“Secretary Cao, are you looking for me?”

Cao Xupeng laughed. “Have a seat, Xiao Dong.”

“Yes.” Dong Xuebing sat in front of Cao Xupeng’s desk.

Cao Xupeng asked about Xiao Dong’s health status and recovery. Not many people can survive after being stranded in the open seas for days. Dong Xuebing is human and not a fish. If it’s someone else, he would be dead after three days. Let alone two weeks.

Dong Xuebing laughed. “Thank you for your concern. I am fine. It’s been a week since I returned, and I even gained weight.”

“Good to hear that.” Cao Xupeng laughed. “You had given us a fright this time.”

Dong Xuebing left embarrassed as he doesn’t if Cao Xupeng is referring to the air crash incident or his sudden appearance at the funeral.

After chatting for a while, Cao Xupeng started to talk about work.

Cao Xupeng said in a serious tone. “Chief Dong. I am representing the Organization to speak to you today.”

Dong Xuebing straighten his back.

The Organization Work transfers should be monitored and handled by the Organization Department. But Cao Xupeng is the Deputy Secretary overseeing the Party members and can speak to Dong Xuebing. “Although you were only in the Investment Promotion Agency for three months, your achievements have surpassed all previous Chiefs. They can’t even achieve your results in a year, and the County Leaders are full of praises of you. Of course, you are not perfect. Some people had complained about the way you work to the Organization Department these few days. But this is not an issue. Even old Leaders like us make mistakes, let alone youngsters like you. It is not fair to disregard your achievements because of your conduct.”

Cao Xupeng saw Dong Xuebing smile, and he smiles too. “The County Leaders thought highly of you, but because of your relationship with Mayor Xie, the Organization wants me to talk to you. Do you have any intentions of changing a work environment?”
