Chapter 573: Adjudicator (1/2)
When Bai Xue opened her eyes, she was in the darkness. She tried ripping apart this darkness and manifested in a forest filled with creatures that did not know who she was, but who could blame them for not knowing that the Mother of Beasts was born? Bai Xue at the time didn't even know she was such a creature.
Bai Xue only knew that she had just escaped the darkness and she didn't want to return to its hold any time soon. She struggled to live, rose to power after learning her gift, and then took a bite of something she shouldn't have lusted over.
She was beaten and battered, and then, she fell and then as she descended a world welcomed her, a world that became her solace — Celestial Spirit Realm.
As she fell to the world, she was accompanied by a Dragon and Phoenix, both about to enter the ranks of Deities. They fought, ravaged the lands and Bai Xue swooped in to steal the kill, and then, she was forced into her egg, once again.
She was trapped, until of course the arrival of a man bearing the lineage of something she ha not seen before. His sword was sharp, and the two fought until they met mutual destruction, she awakened, and instead of choosing to kill him, she spared him, at the thought that he could be someone to finally accompany so that she would no longer be alone.
They agreed to create a pact, one that would bind them to help each other. At first, it was out of obligation, and then, as they fought more and more, risked their lives together, a bond formed between them that would go beyond companionship.
They were tricked by the Emperor of Death and were made to spend a night of intimacy together. But being a trick was merely an excuse for them, something the two failed to experience in their lives.
Bai Xue who had been alone, kept in the dark, found her solace by his side, and she was more than glad to be with him. She would not admit it outright, putting a strong front, but she adored him and when he died… she completely lost all reason and hunted the cause like a hound without stopping. For nine years the first full-scale invasion of the Abyss was delayed because of Bai Xue's rampage.
”Soon after you died, I burst out of the Realm and pursued him. I followed the remnant qi he got from you, and every time he's about to return to his original form, he would die, by my hands. Tens of thousands of Abyssal Demons tried to stop me, but they could not stop my advance. I wanted him to die, alas, I was still too weak to eradicate him.”
She went after him and destroyed his existence, over and over again before he could regenerate. Only because she lacked the power did the Emperor of Death manage to slip away from her maw.
”But that's not all, due to my recklessness and the signs of my pregnancy showing after so long, I slowed down and the invasion began and the living was drove to almost Extinction until I finally managed to regain my strength as the All-Mother, and then… as I carried Qinyang, I also finally took a rest. Meditating, and putting my mind at ease and it was then that I started having visions of a life I did not live. it was memories of a Demon, having hands dyed red with blood for so long that it seemed to be impossible to wash off. He would cry, and wail, but, in the end, he would kill.
”He was unstoppable, a slaughterer, but his existence was that of a necessity. The realm was closed off to another world, thinking other realities where they draw qis were nothing but unreachable dimensions. Thus, the slaughterer bearing the crimson sword would appear to slay every single time the Celestials numbers too many. Stopping any fighting that would destroy the world. Taking it upon himself to be the Adjudicator for the world. To keep the peace, so that the thing that would happen to him wouldn't happen to others… he was seen as a Slaughterer, but many revered him as a Hero, yet the truth was this man was nothing more than a bloody hypocrite.”
