Chapter 548: Reinforcement (1/2)
”He actually retreated…” Chang Ping could not believe her eyes seeing the Rift close, leaving the Revenants and Abyssal Demons behind.
”Well, with the biggest of the threat out of the way and the Master cleaning out the majority of the enemy, we are finally free to do what we do best. Empress Rachel, what do you say about lending my Master your strength in disposing of the Abyssal Demons?”
Butler Sun watched from hundreds of meters behind with an unwavering smile on his face. The Butler that served the Wang Family for Millenia knew all to well that he could place his trust on the man he accepted as the man for him to serve.
”Then… please, forgive me for showing you a disgraceful sight tha—”
”Oh, you do not have to do the Heresy. Empress Rachel only need to lead the remaining Origin Race to dispose of the Abyssal Demons, the Revenants will be annihilated by my Master. We know you cannot fight them head-on… it will be our family to deal with Revenants, and do not worry about your backs, our Young Miss arrived earlier today.”
”… So, she's here as well…” Rachel looked around but found nothing. It didn't surprise her, however as the 'she' had always been good at hiding. For the past century, she had also been hiding from the rest of the Universe, after all.
Rachel sighed and though she did not like the person in question, the Young Miss Empress was still the best person to leave your back to, ”I understand. I will round the rest of the Origin Race; give us half a minute and we will begin the cleanup.”
”That is good to know. If you begin over a hundred kilometers from here, another Disciple of the First Young Master is fighting against Hordes of Abyssal Demons and Holy Revenant Emperors. She is at a disadvantage against the Holy Revenants, so please, assist her first.” Butler Sun asked Rachel and then Holy Empress left just after giving Chang Ping a mildly infuriated gaze.
She still had not let go of the fact Chang Ping gave up despite being in direct contact to the All-Father. Disciple or not, her words and actions before the Origin General was blasphemous towards the All-Father.
Chang Ping saw this, of course. She released a deep sigh, ”A single defeat and this is what I am relegated into… Butler Sun… Tang Ai… did you see her? I… couldn't bring myself to help her when I heard her cries for help earlier…”
”She is alive, I had one of the Holy Kings bring her to safety, like the many gravely injured. But Tang Ai lost an arm and a leg; a part of her meridians suffered from the corruption of the Abyssal Qi so I already felt her cultivation going down a notch. But, if we get her to the First Young Master, then it will be fine. We can't reverse her cultivation, but we can help her rebuilt her meridians.”
”What, about Tang Yu? Is he…”
”Outside of yourself, he is the strongest in the Sword Tower. He's alive, I saw him heading to Yan Renhuo to assist her.”
Blood drenched the ground as Chang Ping's fingers dug out her flesh. Frustration and uselessness plagued her soul. Biting down on her lips, she bled more and more, and as the medicine seeped through every crevice of the body… she closed her eyes and wallowed in self-loathing as her desire to stand up and kill rose up from the bottom of her heart.
Butler Sun noticed this and could not help but shake his head, [How unfortunate. She just rediscovered the childhood she lost and just started smiling again yet once more she is being brought down and reminded of the harshness of reality. But… the forge that is life does make a sword sharper. I wonder, will she be able to cross the threshold now?]
The Sword God fell but as she lay weak, her ascension could only be but glorious. It could only be glorious else she would be nothing more than a broken sword.
Butler Sun laughed, [She's pretty much the same as the Miss in this regard, huh.]
Directing his gaze elsewhere, Sun Wu looked over the mountains and saw two figures. One holding a man with a scar going down his body from his cheek. His Golden Spear glowed under the setting sun and remained seated on the mountaintop looking down on the world.
