I was about to ask Huo Ting out when, unexpectedly, I received a call from him.
He invited me to meet him at a nearby coffee shop, and I got Bo Lengqing to drive me there.
”Remember to miss me.” He whispered in my ear, and I kissed him back. ”I'll call you when it's over.”
Huo Ting sat in the most conspicuous position as he got out of the car and walked into the coffee shop.
But this time he was not alone.
Beside him sat a woman.
I took a deep breath and walked over to them with my bag.
”Huo Ting, long time no see.” I reached out my hand to him. He was much thinner, and his face was haggard.
He held my hand, and then said to the woman beside him with a smile: ”Let me introduce you, this is Su Cha, my … ”Friend.”
”Su Cha, this is Vivian, my girlfriend.”
”Hello.” The woman in front of me looked to be in her early twenties, from head to toe, she was filled with cards that clearly didn't match her age. However, it was very normal for her to have all these cards with Huo Ting since this was their family matter, so it wasn't good for me to interfere.
The woman took my hand. She looked at me with a kind of scrutiny and a faint trace of hostility.
”It's been a long time since I've seen you. I wonder if I'll tell everyone if I have a girlfriend.” I pretended to lighten the awkward atmosphere between us.
”Yeah, you're getting married, after all.”
His tone was light, but my smile froze on my face.
I knew he was still blaming me, still angry with me, and I lowered my head, not knowing what to do.
”Waiter, two bottles of champagne.”
”Hubby, this is a coffee shop. It's better not to drink …” The woman beside him reminded him in a gentle voice.
”What, you little thing, now you're in charge of me?” He lifted the woman's chin and made as if to kiss her, but out of the corner of his eye he was looking at me.
Is it for me? I smiled wryly to myself.
Seeing that I didn't react, he abruptly released the woman beside him. Vivian didn't react. Seeing that he didn't intend to continue kissing her, she immediately held onto his neck.
”Hubby, just kiss her, just once!” ”Sure!” Slight An's voice was very sweet. To act like no one was around in this public place was truly quite difficult.
Huo Ting frowned and took out a card from his pocket. ”There's a business circle nearby. Go take a look around and buy whatever you want.”
After hearing that, Vivian's eyes lit up, but she quickly disappeared. She pulled Huo Ting's sleeve and said, ”Send him there. He's wearing a pair of high-heeled shoes and won't leave. Just send him off, okay?”
Huo Ting frowned. He clearly didn't have any patience anymore, but he was in no hurry to flare up. He raised his head and looked at Vivian. ”Did you forget? We made an agreement at the beginning?”
His body stiffened for a moment before he bit his lips in frustration. ”I understand now!” As he spoke, he stomped his feet and left.
Looking at her back, I frowned.
”How have you been?” At that moment, the waiter brought his order of champagne. He opened the bottle and poured two glasses of wine.
I waved my hand to indicate that I didn't want to drink, so he carried me over and drank it all in one gulp.
”Looks like you're having a good time. I remember you used to have a glass of red wine every night before you went to bed, and you slept on alcohol. You don't need to be by his side anymore, right? ”
His voice was very gentle, but there was a hint of unwillingness within the gentleness. ”But why is it him? Su Cha, there are so many people in this world, why is it him? ”
”I don't know,” I said. ”To me, a heart can hold only one person, all sorts of things in the past, all kinds of human misunderstandings, he loves me, I love him, I've spent a long time trying to forget, but I can't.”
”But you never gave me a chance!” His mood was a little agitated. ”Not even a little bit.”
”I don't want to lie to you, and I don't want to lie to myself.” I looked at him seriously. ”Huo Ting, you are a good person and a better woman. However, that woman definitely isn't me … Do you understand? ”
He took a deep breath and tried to hold it in. ”Like Vivian?”
I knew he was in a tight loop now, beginning to get caught in his own trap.
