Chapter 153 The Mystery of the Loud Noise (1/2)
The colorful stone bead was a beautiful demon object, but it could hurt people. Its hidden demon methods were horrifying and its ability to charm was just one of them. It would exert its methods one by one. The poor soul at its mercy would be wretched until it disappeared.
Perhaps, the demon could control Zhang Yunyan's soul and it could become a tool driven by the demon method?
Needless to say, even if this colorful bead was a rare treasure, it was useless to the dying soul. They should be buried together deep underground.
Supposing that the colorful bead was not a demon thing however, but just an ordinary bead? It would not help her soul to survive or escape the desperate situation. [It could only be used for appreciating and they should finally be destroyed together.] <<--I can't make sense of this statement i've placed in brackets
She suspected each of those situations were a possibility -- they could happen -- and for Zhang Yunyan, the first consequence was the most terrible. If her soul was controlled by the operations of a demon, she would have to follow the demon's orders and she could hurt some other innocent soul and become a member of the vicious demons in the underworld.
By then, those souls would be terrified of her and they would have a deep hatred of her. They would consider her a scary monster and avoid her entirely.
When Zhang Yunyan was alive, she was very sincere and did only good towards people. She would not be exploited by a demon object, even if her soul failed to yield after death.
However, this was just her wish. She was afraid she would not be able to take control of herself and rid herself of all control by the demon. She had no ability to resist its power and though she had no desire to do so, she would do extremely awful things to hurt people.
Zhang Yunyan had been drawn by the three colorful words of fate. She looked at the colorful bead in her hand with a smile on her face and was enraptured...
Joy was uppermost in her mind. She forgot the terrible dangers and felt ecstatic. She was so happy to receive this treasure and clapped her hands together in delight.
In the cave, it was dark and quiet, which was daunting. In the quietness, thought the atmosphere was terrible, she regained some feeling of joy. In this mysterious place, crisis and danger could happen at any time.
Zhang Yunyan's soul would surely disappear, and the tragic ending could not be changed. This was an inevitable result of being trapped here. No one could reverse it. Her soul had been drawn by the colorful bead. Perhaps, she was controlled by the demons methods and had no ability to escape her sad end.
This was good. Yunyan had no pain or desperate emotions. It was lucky for her to disappear in joy. In her short time in the underworld and her a desperate situation, it was hard to own joy. It was precious.
Of course, the substance of the situation did not change. The result would still be sad and miserable.
Time was quietly passing by. Zhang Yunyan did not know when the night come or the sun had risen. She had some illusions regarding the human world. She did not know whether her soul would disappear or even when it would disappear. She could only waste her remaining time in the underworld.
When Yunyan looked at the crystal bead, she had been touched by its flashing words of ”fate”, which seemed to integrate into the girl's atrium.
She thought of the long-lost sun and remembered the green mountains and the vast land... She had an endless yearning for the world of beauty.
Zhang Yunyan would like to see the white clouds and blue sky and enjoyed the fragrance of the wilderness, but she did not know whether there was such beautiful scenery in the underworld.
She had been looking forward to returning to the human world to look for her brother Yuntian and sister Yunxia and to kill her enemies Yan Xiaopeng and Feng Jiabao. She did not know whether she could reach her goals.
In the cave, it was mysterious. Except for the indifferent rocks, there was nothing left and it was empty. It kept a long-term tranquility.
In the empty space, sighs arose from time to time. They were somewhat incompatible with the ancient tranquility.
The handwriting on the ”stone table” flashed constantly. The brightness of the three-colored bead interacted with that, which added to the mysterious feeling of the ancient cave.
Suddenly, there was a ”crack!” A huge sound rose up like a rumble of thunder, and the cave shook. The sudden loud noise had a strong momentum, shocking everyone.
Zhang Yunyan screamed in fear and could not help jumping up. ”Ah, what happened? What is this terrible sound, is it an earthquake?”
She looked around and nothing had changed in the cave. She shook her head and still felt puzzled.
She was murmuring, ”Such a huge noise must indicate that something horrible has happened, but why can't I see any sign?”
Zhang Yunyan was shocked and looked around with her eyes wide open. She hoped to find out something and solve the mystery of the loud noise.
In the cave, it was dark and silent. Everything was the same as it had been.
The ”stone table” was in place and motionless; the four sentences on the table were flashing. There was no hemispherical bulge or strange melody; the small stones around it were stationary保存(Ctrl+Enter) and in their place; the stone bead in her hand was shinny and had not changed. There was no visible trace of change in the cave.
Everything was still the same in the cave. What was the cause of the loud noise?
Zhang Yunyan was very puzzled. What was the sound? Was it the sound telling the time in the underworld?
She could not explain it and could only suspect something was wrong. Though she had no idea what it could be.
Her soul had arrived here for the first time and knew nothing of the ways of the underworld. Everything was strange. She wondered if she should consider it as a normal thing?
Yunyan was awakened by a loud noise and had got rid of her fascination with her colorful ”fate”. She recovered her original consciousness and felt pained by her desperate situation. She also felt nervous with regard to the impending danger...
The cave was strange and dark, displaying a long-lasting silence. In peace, there was no peace and harmony instead it was filled with endless anxiety and sadness.
Zhang Yunyan looked at the four sentences on the stone table and read them, in silence, several times -- still guessing at their meaning.
She smiled bitterly and sighed, remembering the moment the stone bead had come into existence. She was still puzzled.
She thought of the strange melody and thought it was still difficult to understand the mystery.
As she thought, Zhang Yunyan began to understand something. The four sentences on the ”stone table” seemed to explain the origin of the colorful bead and an account of its formation.
With the exception of the first sentence, she thought she was not wrong in her thinking regards the substance of the remaining three sentences.
