Chapter 29 Going to the Outside World (1/2)
Zhang Yunyan sat down with a low spirit, seemingly exhausted, waiting for the death to come.
The Iron Egg nestled in the arms of Yunyan, which was the safest place for the young child. Even though, his young body still trembled in fear, so he hugged Yunyan to get warmth and affection from Yunyan and to soothe his tender heart.
Zhang Yunyan sat there with Iron Egg in her arms, not knowing what she was thinking. Although she still had her soul, her expression was already dull, and she was likely to have no difference from those busy walking deads.
As time went by, it became calm and silent. But this situation was extremely cruel for Yunyan and Iron Egg.
The short time before dark was too precious for them. Because Zhang Yunyan and Iron Egg could only have the chance to survive during this period. But at present, they could only let the time pass by. ”What can I do?” Yunyan thought.
Inside the Black Tiger Cave, it was even more quiet, as if everything was dead and solidified. In the dark, the atmosphere was also more terrible and much tenser. Even though, those dull lives which still had their souls couldn't be waken.
Outside the cave, the sun was moving quietly in the west, and the tree shadows were gradually elongating. In the distance, the mountains were like the rising waves but they were motionless now with and some reddish reflections in the green.
Every creature was quiet and silent, not knowing whether they were nervous or fearful, or indifferent.
But those ”walking dead” were still busy—they did not seem to be living creatures, but to be the rocks which could move, not knowing tired and hunger with no thoughts and no emotions.
Suddenly, a scream shook the whole mountain. Didn't know which beast passed by, and why it let out a terrible shout.
There became busy in an instant, and all the creatures which still had their souls were all scared.
But the Turtle Demon and the Wind-blown Monster seemed to have not heard the growl, staying there motionless and doing their own ”duty” and not taking care of other things.
Also, as for those busy ”rocks”, they did not stop to observe it, still doing the work in their hands.
Not surprisingly, they were a group of elves without souls. So the growl couldn't awaken the ignorant bodies. As a consequence, they wouldn't participate in things which had nothing about themselves.
But Zhang Yunyan felt much more different. When she suddenly heard the growl, her dull mind was immediately awakened, and then her eyes widened in an instant.
Inside the cave, it was silent and there almost had no changes. And the growling beast did not appear at all. If the beast wanted to come in and have a look, maybe the guardians would not allow it to come in.
Zhang Yunyan sighed and blamed for her incapacity.
It wasn't long for her to have her own soul. So the time before dark was extremely precious but short for her, and it even could be called as ”difficult to buy an inch of time”. If she was still waiting at this time, she was just wasting her time and killing a short life. Uh, she shouldn't do so!
She could die but the child couldn't. If she just waited for death at this moment, not to mention that it was not responsible for her own life, but it also an unforgivable sin for the Iron Egg.
She hated that she did not take into account the child's life, and she did not take up the responsibility to protect the child. Maybe she was really annoying.
Zhang Yunyan sighed and but she immediately cheered up again. During a short time, she had to concentrate on thinking of a way to do something useful.
This was her only wish and her only mission. She could ignore her own life, but she couldn't abandon the child. She must do her best to save the Iron Egg.
In such a desperate situation, this was the most urgent thing for her to complete, and the goal for her to struggle. She must be straight from the shoulder to complete this task as soon as possible.
The Iron Egg looked at Zhang Yunyan in an eager look with fearful tears full of his eyes. Because Yunyan was the only person whom he could rely on. His tender heart was hurt and could not be healed anymore.
He looked up and timidly asked the person whom he could rely on, ”Auntie, what is that? I am afraid!”
