Chapter 528 - Human Pillow (2/2)

Edward then dropped her at Rui's house and to Cali's surprise it took quite a while before the gate was opened.

'He sounded drunk?' Cali mused. She went out of the car and Edward left.

Cali went inside and was startled to see Rui near the door with his back on the wall.

”What are you doing there?” Cali asked.

”Waiting for your return…” Rui mumbled in his drunken voice.

”Are you drunk?” Cali beamed, smelling the stench of alcohol on him. He drank so much and he was reeking of alcohol.

Rui smiled and said, ”Yeah just a little…”

He walked towards Cali but almost tripped and Cali instantly caught him from falling.

”Geez… What's with you tonight. Why did you drink so much when you can't handle it.” Cali complained as she helped Rui walk to his room.

”Weren't you with Ruth? Did you drink so much with her?” Cali asked anger building in her as she helped him inside his room.

”Nah, after bowling I dropped her home and got straight here. I was waiting for you to call me, but you didn't.” Rui sadly mumbled.

Cali was taken aback by his answer and regretted her decision of not calling him when with Edward. She then helped him on the bed and covered him with the blanket, she was about to leave but Rui held her hand and pulled her with him causing her to lie down beside him.

”Hey…” Cali scoffed.

”Stay here for a while. I want a human pillow. Please be my human pillow just for a night.” Rui whispered as he buried his face in Cali's hair. Inhaling that familiar fragrance, he started calming down a little.

In his drunken stupor, he had lost control on his rationality and just wanted his wife to be with him on his bed. He missed that softness in his arms while sleeping and wanted her to be with him, only him.

Cali froze. Her heart thumped so hard that she thought it would jump out of her chest. Rui was hugging her from behind and his arms were wrapped tightly on her waist.

Cali gently moved to remove them but she couldn't because Rui tightened his hug more whenever she would try to remove his arm.

Cali heaved a long sigh and murmured, ”Rui please let me go now…”

Then she heard him sobbing as he whispered, ”No… I can't let you go, ever.”

'Is he hallucinating about someone? Maybe he thinks of me to be his former fiance…' Cali mused because Rui was obviously drunk and was not in his right mind.

He sobbed for a while and soon started breathing heavily and Cali presumed he was already asleep.

She yawned… she started having a second thought whether to leave or not. She felt extremely comfortable in his arms and his warmth was relaxing her tired nerves.

It was so comfortable and familiar that, without her knowing, her eyelids closed and she dozed off to sleep.
