Chapter 64 - Someone Dear To Your Heart? (1/2)

The couple was back in the Yang ancestral mansion before sunrise. Yera was still heavily sleeping in Xander's arms so he carried her inside their room and gently put her on their bed. He laid his body down beside her and cuddled her before he kissed her lips, full of love.

Xander heaved a long sigh and murmured, ”I never thought it was possible to fall in love with a person like this.  I'm really grateful Yera that you crashed into my life. I'm grateful to Bernard for letting me know you and take good care of you. Sleep well darling… I love you…”

He planted another warm and heartfelt kiss on Yera's lips before he closed his eyes and fell in slumber.

After a few more seconds, after hearing Xander's heavy breathing, Yera opened her eyes and stared at the man who was hugging him lovingly. She heard Xander… She was not asleep… Tears unconsciously fell from her now swollen eyes. She was too overwhelmed to hear those words for Xander. Maybe Xander was right, he was not a jinx after all or Xander was the good luck she needed in her life.

She smiled and murmured, ”Thank you…” She too was grateful and she promised to herself that she would soon sort her feelings out so Xander would not wait that long.

Yera woke up late, her hands automatically grabbed the side of the bed. Her eyebrows knitted when she felt it was empty. She quickly opened her sheepish eyes and saw it was really empty. Xander's usual smiling face that would greet her whenever she woke up was not there.

She sat and looked at their wall clock. It was almost noontime. Yera stretched her arms and yawned. She had a nice peaceful sleep. She grabbed her mobile phone and saw many unread messages but the first thing she opened was Xander's message.

[Xander: Darling, I have to attend an important meeting. You sleep so soundly so I did not wake you up. Rest more and you don't need to report to  work. I'll have Dr. Gong cover for you. I bet you're missing me already… I hope… See you soon love…

Yera's heart skipped a beat just reading those text messages. Her stomach whisked as she flushed unconsciously. She deliberately shook her head and rose from the bed to head straight in the bathroom. She needed a cold shower.

Yera reported back at  the hospital the same day. She informed Xander that she would work instead.

”Welcome back!” Dr. Ye greeted as soon as he saw the beautiful surgeon whom he admired so much. Dr. Song had with her paper bags that they presumed the souvenirs they asked before she left. Yera handed them the souvenirs. ”Wow, our Dr. Song is really thoughtful and generous. I recalled that time when it was Dr. Ye who attended the conference, the souvenirs we got was only a keychain.” Dr. Rio scoffed then grinned happily while she looked at the pretty handbag Dr. Song bought for her.

”Hey! It's the thought that counts!” Dr. Ye countered immediately as his face reddened. Others laughed and thanked Yera for bothering to get them something from the conference she attended.

Yera saw her favorite junior, Dr. Dion Chen… She smiled as she handed to him the shirt she bought. ”Did you enjoy the place?” Dion was the first to ask how her day went. Yera nodded and chuckled when Dion''s face blushed as he smiled at her timidly and said,  ”thank you.”

She liked Dr. Chen from the start because she could see herself on him. Someone who was quiet but eager to learn and someone who knew his goal. Also, he looked familiar but she could not tell how.

Their mobile phone beeped, there was an emergency operation required at the emergency room so everyone rushed to get back at work so did Yera.
