Chapter 117 The Most Romantic Thing (1/2)
“Bad girl, look what you’ve done to me!” cried Mo Kun in a Cantonese accent.
“When did you learn to speak Cantonese? You do have a gift for languages! Here are some wet wipes. Go to the washroom and wipe it off.” Long Xi teased him with a smile.
Lord Mo Kun went to the washroom. When he looked into the mirror and saw Long Xi’s work, he couldn’t help laughing.
As long as it made her laugh, it was okay.
It was around six o’clock in the afternoon when they arrived in Paris.
They left the airport by taxi. Lord Mo Kun told the driver their destination in fluent French. The taxi travelled in the night and arrived at the Charolando Hotel. They had made their reservation in advance online.
In the dim light, the hotel building was shrouded in an orange light, which made them feel warm in this strange foreign city.
The hotel wasn’t large. It was a cozy, quiet, unique place with high-quality service and fine food at cheaper prices, unlike the five-star business hotels in downtown Paris.
There were only about twenty rooms, each with its unique style.
They had already booked a Chinese style double-bed room.
Long Xi was pleased. There was a bed with flower patterns carved on it that imitated the Qing dynasty and a mural of Chinese ladies in ancient times. “What a beautiful room! It would be a waste if we didn’t make full use of it?” Long Xi joked.
“What do you mean by saying ‘make full use of it’?” Mo Kun asked her intentionally. “You know, I have no sleeping problems. I can have a good sleep anywhere, anytime. However, you didn’t sleep at all on the plane. I’m afraid you are too tired for any extra fun…”
Long Xi flushed and said, “I was joking.” Like most lovey-dovey lovers, she found Mo Kun as alluring as the forbidden fruit ever since she had tasted him.
That was it, Lord Mo Kun and Long Xi were going to sleep.
Although Long Xi had a hot bath and went to bed, she kept tossing and turning.
She couldn’t sleep because of jet lag. Besides, she was still thinking about having some “extra fun” with Lord Mo Kun.
Unfortunately, Lord Mo Kun had already fallen asleep beside her.
She got up and went to the balcony to enjoy the night view of Paris in a rocking chair.
She found some wine in the refrigerator and drank some before she passed off.
The next day, she slept well until she woke up naturally to discover that Lord Mo Kun had ordered French breakfast for the two of them.
Then, they went to the Louvre and saw world-famous works of art.
Afterward, they went to a Michelin one-star restaurant to have a French meal.
In front of the restaurant was a row of flourishing sunflowers. Two fish ponds were embedded in the two walls. The colorful tropical fish were not afraid of people. They remained cool, even when Long Xi put her hand against the tank’s wall.
Lord Mo Kun let Long Xi order the dishes and she accepted the offer delightedly.
She ordered baked snails, French fig foie gras, fried scallops with foie gras sauce, roasted lamb steak with black pepper sauce, medium-cooked eye steak with garlic, southern French-style apple pie, French seafood cream soup with puff pastries, French onion soup, cheese-flavored macarons…
“What about the steak? I don’t think it is well-cooked,” said Mo Kun.
No one knew more about food than Long Xi. “Medium-cooked naked eye steak tastes the best! The surface of the meat has been fried evenly. When you cut it with the knife, you will find that 50% of the meat is pink. It tastes juicy when seasoning permeates it. Naked eye steak contains a small amount of fat, which provides wonderful beef juice. The longer you fry it, the harder the meat becomes and it does not taste good anymore.”
Ten minutes later, the waiter served the steak. It was beautifully cooked. The steak and the cabbage were well-cut, neither too thick nor too thin.
The shredded cabbage on the steak looked like a meadow on a hillside.
Several tomatoes had been cut and placed like two little “bunnies” standing on the shredded cabbage.
This way, it looked like two little “bunnies” were playing on the meadow.
The chef had also placed a peony flower made of turnip beside the steak. This added a bit of the features of country Z to the dish, making it look good.
Long Xi cut the beef steak, drizzled it with garlic sauce and shared it with Lord Mo Kun.
Mo Kun couldn’t stop after one bite. They ate the whole plate of steak.
“Let’s try some other local delicacies,” Mo Kun said while expecting the next dish.
The next dish was French baked snails, cooked by a Michelin one-star chef. It was a very attractive dish.
Long Xi had also ordered French foie gras.
She explained to Mo Kun, “Authentic French foie gras is one of the top three delicacies in the world. In French, it’s ‘foie gras saute’. Foie gras is best served in a sauce cooked with liqueur or with dried figs. I ordered foie gras with dried figs. The foie gras flavor goes well with the figs’ flavor, which gives it a unique taste.”
When the foie gras was served, Long Xi cut off a small piece and fed it to Mo Kun.
