Chapter 21 The Sprout of Love (1/2)
Long Xi said with much confusion, ”There shouldn't be rabbits, snow leopards and antelope lambs in this place! Unless someone is purposely bringing these animals here?”
Mo Kun shook his head to express that he had no idea as well.
But in actual fact, he did. He was the one that brought these animals here! However, he would not tell Long Xi the truth for now.
He passed the lamb to her.
Long Xi brought out a cooking knife from a bag and removed the skin of the lamb swiftly. After cleaning out its organs, she pierced a large branch through the lamb's body and started roasting it over the bonfire.
As the flame swallowed up the dead branches, it produced a series of popping sounds. Mo Kun looked at Long Xi cooly roasting the lamb without saying a word. He suddenly felt an inexplicable warmth.
He swallowed his saliva, picked up some leaves and laid a layer of leaves near the bonfire. He carried the snow leopard and placed it onto the layer of leaves. After seeing that it was big enough to be its bed, he nodded in satisfaction and headed into the woods again.
Long Xi rotated the lamb slowly as she sprinkled some salt and cumin powder onto it. Every now and then, she would glance towards Mo Kun, who was hustling in the woods.
He was picking cherries from a fully-blossomed wild cherry tree in the woods. He did not know who planted it there.
While the flame continues to burn, the lamb meet turned golden brown and oil started dripping down. The air was filled with a mouth-watering aroma.
Her cooking skills were not a joke. Just by sprinkling some salt and cumin powder, she was also to deliver a delicious roasted lamb without any other ingredients or tools. It was as good as what a five-star hotel would deliver.
Long Xi could tell that the lamb was already cooked and lifted it away from the fire. At this moment, Mo Kun returned from the woods.
He held onto a big leaf and walked towards her. He placed everything on his hands beside her. It was a small mountain of bright red cherries that shone like pearls.
Long Xi's brows were raised. This type of cherry was very sweet and was also her favorite. However, the branches on the cherry tree were filled with thorns, even the edges of the leaves were jagged. He could have easily cut himself.
She moved her gaze towards the pair of hands hidden behind his back. She then turned to look at his handsome features that were out of this world. Her eyes became damp, and her tears resembled tiny crystal-clear diamonds.
Mo Kun felt that the girls on earth were such strange creatures! He had only given her some cherries and she was moved to this extent? Wasn't she crying too easily?
”The lamb is done, come over and eat, ”Long Xi said. She tore off a delicious leg from the lamb and handed it to him. Her face was beaming with satisfaction.
Mo Kun froze for a moment. He had never thought that she would put in so much effort into cooking this only to let him eat it.
It tasted so good! He almost ate his tongue as well.
Long Xi wiped the cherries till they were clean and started devouring them.
She placed some of them into her pocket. The cherries laid there silently, warming her soul and her heart that was once blanketed by the lonely snow through the thin layer of cloth.
The sky started the darken and before they knew it, moonlight poured onto the ground.
Mo Kun sat beside Long Xi in silence. He carefully devoured the lamb that she had roasted for him by the small flickering flame.
It was the best thing he had ever eaten. Nothing was comparable to it.
The delicious aroma that lingered everywhere caused his heart to feel full. Unknowingly, the corners of his mouth formed an arc that served as first-hand evidence.
