596 594 Messer Chamber of Commerce (1/2)

The Messer Chamber of Commerce ship reached with Roblen's guidance was small but luxurious inside. The railings are carved and ornamental plants are placed on the deck. Maybe this is the kind of lobby you call a regular chamber of commerce.

They say all this ship is the property of the Messer Chamber of Commerce.

At first, they took what for granted, but the little chambers of commerce seem to have difficulty owning one ship and renting a corner of a large ship to make it an office. It's called a tenant method.

With that in mind, I well understood the good feathering of the Messer Chamber of Commerce, which is able to own a whole ship belonging to the commercial fleet.

I thought you could suddenly visit a chamber like this and listen to me... Unexpectedly, I was able to meet with the executives.

”I heard that you, the top adventurer of this lake, were suddenly visited.”

Apparently it was Roblen who didn't wait. When I thought about it, there was no way I didn't know Roblen, a leading adventurer whose chamber of commerce this size was.

”Can you introduce me to your lady?

”She's Fran. You're still an adventurer, aren't you? We have a lot of help.”

”Mm. I'm Fran”

”Really? My name is Gregory from the Messer Chamber of Commerce. Later, get to know each other.”

Haven't you noticed Fran's still Princess Black Thunder? Although polite, it feels like we're meeting as companions to high-ranking adventurers.

”So, what can I do for you today? If there's anything you need, we'll do everything we can at the Chamber of Commerce, right?

”No, I appreciate the sentiment, but I'm not here to make a deal today.”

”Hmm?”

The conversation begins with a sneer. But soon their faces will be cloudy.

”Actually, it was working at the request of the Adventurer Guild. I was hoping you could help me with my investigation.”

”What is an investigation?

”This is an investigation into lake anomalies.”

The moment Roblen said so, Gregory wandered off for a moment. But that's really a moment. I didn't change my expression, I didn't answer my voice.

But for those of us who have strong suspicions from the start, that's a good enough hint. Both Robren and Fran seem to have reinforced the certainty that Gregory is likely to know something.

”Ho? So, what brings you to this Chamber of Commerce? I don't think there's anything I can do to help you with the lake survey?

”So could you show me the books of the Messer Chamber of Commerce and the warehouse?

”What?

You should be able to prepare as many books as you want. But the goal is to see how the other person reacts. I guess that still doesn't matter.

Besides, if you give me a really fake book, I might be able to prove the crime with that in my footsteps. No matter how well you double book, there's no such thing as perfect.

”So why don't you let me check all the books in the Messer Chamber of Commerce with the records of the sale of Scarlet Water Medicine and the storage warehouse that is serving Scarlet Water Medicine?

With the Messer Chamber of Commerce convinced that it is black, Roblen is quite strong.

”Ha. I wonder what you're talking about...... It's impossible, isn't it? It's a Chamber of Commerce secret.”

”I'm asking you to bend over there.”

”What, are you putting any suspicion into our Chamber of Commerce? You think we're involved in this anomaly?

”Well, what do you think?

”That's an absurd story. Our Chamber of Commerce has nothing to do with it.”

Gregory stood up with a harsh look on his face. I guess it's a sign of intent that there's nothing more to talk about.

”Please pick it up. I'm sorry, Lord Roblen. I thought you were a courteous adventurer. You'll never make a deal again.”

Gregory turns his back and walks out towards the exit of the room.

But you can't let them get away here. Whatever, this guy was lying a bunch of times. It wasn't just the part about not being able to cooperate in the lake investigation, but the claim that it was irrelevant to the lake's anomaly was also a lie.

It is black.

”Fran, I know this guy absolutely everything.”

”Mm-hmm. Shit. We still need to talk.”
