409 407 Reunion in unexpected places (2/2)
He's shaking his head to the side. Apparently not.
(On!)
Ursi started walking ahead of us. Besides, let's be careful to erase the signs with dark magic. We didn't care for a bit of drain either, so we opened up our magic and skills and moved to covert mode. If we are now, we are confident that we will not be noticed passing in front of ordinary people.
If you follow Ursi, don't walk away from Count Olmes' separate residence. Keep going through the back alley and continue on the route to the main street running in front of the Marquis Ashtoner residence.
(on)
Then, just before the exit of the back alley, Ursi abruptly stopped that walk. Just gently put your head out, Ursi looking down the street. We imitated Ursi, too, and sneaked a peek at the front street.
”Is that the drifter?
(Off!)
What Ursi is staring at is across the street from our lurking alley. It was the entrance to an alley somewhat close to the Marquis Ashtoner side.
There's a floater squatting around in a large borough cloth. It's not a rare sight if it's as big a city as Wang Du. In fact, we've seen so many of them.
It may be unusual to be in an aristocratic neighborhood, but that place would be a dead end, and there's a chance that soldiers on patrol or something like that wouldn't notice.
But I watched a little and noticed how strange the drifter was.
”I can't feel any signs.”
(Mm-hmm. And the magic is weird)
”... are you hiding the signs with your skills”
Apparently, he's not just a vagrant. Quite powerful. At the very least, the skill of the covert system would be comparable to that of a Rank C adventurer.
”That position... may be monitoring Marquis Ashtoner's residence”
The gaze of the floater faces the front gate of the Marquis Ashtoner residence.
Nevertheless, Ursi often noticed this drifter from all that far away. You felt the thinness or unnaturalness of the signs?
When I wondered so much, the vagrant turned himself over. Keep going into the back of the alley. Have you noticed us?
In the meantime, with the signs off, I decided to follow them. I don't imitate a vagabond going straight after a vanished alley.
Use the adjacent alley in the alley where the floater was, and follow it at a certain distance. Even if you lose it, you can chase it as long as you have Ursi's nose. I won't force it.
With that in mind, we were able to tail without the vagabonds noticing us. Minutes to advance the alley of the aristocratic city out of sight.
You didn't think you were being watched, but while you were alert around, you quickly took off the robe that the floater was wearing out of his head. I guess that means I stopped pretending to be a vagrant.
From underneath, a surprisingly tight flesh emerges. Obviously he wears muscles built up for combat and signs of a warrior polished out in action. Earlier I felt the strength of a man to the extent of rank C repudiation, but it was a mistake. Obviously, the scourge is not in the line of duty, but in the hands of those who feed themselves on the battle.
Or that face looked familiar. Why is he here?
(Corbelt?
”Oh, definitely”
(On!)
In Barbora, Rank B Adventurers were asked to help with stalls and confronted as strong enemies in militant competitions. Fighters crushing warcraft with fists. It's an iron claw corbelt.
Ursi would have reacted because she remembered the smell of Corbelt. At Linford, we fought hand in hand.
(What do we do? Speak up?)
”... um, what to do”
Not to say we're not strangers, but we're not necessarily allies right now. While you don't know who you're employed by as an adventurer, you should be careful. You don't think I'd personally keep an eye on the Marquis if there weren't any circumstances, like us.
