”Chen'er, you're back?” A lazy female voice rang out. Yin Yao followed the source of the voice and saw a well-maintained woman slowly descending the stairs.

”Mom.” Jiang Chen answered. It was only then that Yin Yao realized it was Mother Jiang. When Mother Jiang saw her, she was momentarily stunned, but soon calmed down. She looked at Yin Yao with a complicated expression before finally walking down the stairs, looking at her.

Mother Jiang's gaze towards Yin Yao carried an air of finesse as she sized her up. There was also sadness and a hint of hatred.

Yin Yao felt completely uncomfortable. She felt as if Mother Jiang was looking through her at someone else. Mother Jiang's eyes pierced through her.

”What's your name?” Mother Jiang asked Yin Yao. Yin Yao replied, ”Yin Yao, Yao Qin's Yao.”

”Yin Yao,” Mother Jiang repeated playfully. Her voice was very slow and very long, causing Yin Yao to unconsciously feel a chill run down her spine.

Jiang Chen furrowed his brows, blocking Mother Jiang's view of Yin Yao. He then said to Aunt Wang, ”Aunt Wang, tidy up the room next to mine for Young Madam to stay in.”

”Yes, young master.” ”Yes,” said Aunt Wang, and went up the stairs.

There were only three people in the living room, and Mother Jiang looked at Jiang Chen with a mocking smile. ”Chen'er, my mother has yet to speak. Why are you so anxious to give her a new identity?”

Jiang Chen's eyes darkened. His mother didn't look at him, but at Yin Yao with a sharp gaze instead. Yin Yao felt as if her whole body was being pierced by needles.

By then, the servants had already brought the dishes to the table one after another. Aunt Jiang snorted coldly and walked towards the table. Jiang Chen walked over to Yin Yao with a reluctant look on his face.

Then the three of them began to eat. However, Yin Yao didn't feel good about this meal, because she could always feel Aunt Jiang's gaze lingering over her body.

This feeling was like being watched as a prey. Mother Jiang looked at Jiang Chen and asked, ”Chen'er, where are you going later?”

”To the hospital.” Jiang Chen answered simply. Mother Jiang paused her chopsticks and asked, ”Why are you going to the hospital?” Her gaze once again fell on Yin Yao, and she withdrew her gaze.

”To see my future mother-in-law.” As soon as Jiang Chen finished speaking, his mother's face darkened.

Her chopsticks were placed on top of the bowl with a ”Pa” sound. Her actions were graceful, but she was somewhat gnashing her teeth in anger, because Yin Yao saw that her hands, which had been smeared with a dark purple Kou Dan, were so forceful that their joints turned white.

Yin Yao's heart skipped a beat. She was not stupid. She could tell that Aunt Jiang was in a bad mood. As for why, she did not know. Was it because Jiang Chen wanted to go to the hospital?

The atmosphere turned awkward as Jiang Chen expressionlessly scooped food into Yin Yao's bowl. ”Eat more.” Then he looked at Mother Jiang lightly, and the two of them looked at each other. Finally, Mother Jiang sighed lightly as she finished her sentence.

After that soft sigh, Mother Jiang seemed to have aged a bit. Even her expression had turned dejected and dejected, ”There are some things that your father and I should handle, there's no need for you to interfere.”

”Yes.” Jiang Chen responded nonchalantly. Seeing his attitude, Aunt Jiang did not say much, but only said in an ambiguous manner, ”You don't have to compensate yourself.”

Yin Yao was confused by the conversation. She looked curiously at Jiang Chen, but Jiang Chen merely signaled her with his eyes to eat.

Seeing them interacting, Mother Jiang didn't want to say anything, so she just got up and went straight up the stairs.
