The air was thick with the smell of disinfectant, the cries of children, the screams of pregnant women, and the cries of patients.
Yin Yao closed the door to the ward, but she couldn't hear the noise. The sound penetrated the door and pricked her eardrums.
”Yaoyao. ”Cough, cough …” Mother Yin weakly waved her hand, and before she could finish her sentence, she violently coughed. Not long after, there was a pool of dazzling blood on the bed.
Yin Yao's heart ached. ”Mom!” She strode towards the bed, then gently stroked her mother's chest. Her mother panted for a moment before calming down.
Yin Yao picked up a tissue and wiped away the blood on the corner of her mother's mouth before pressing the button on the bedside table.
Soon, the nurse arrived. She glanced at the sheets, and without waiting for Yin Yao to speak, she straightforwardly changed them, then turned around and walked away.
”Yao Yao, your father left early. You … you have to work hard …” Yin Yao's mother's blue-veined hands weakly patted her own. After she finished speaking, a row of murky tears slid down her face.
Yin Yao's heart ached. Soon after, tears filled her eyes.
The previous week, her father had committed suicide by diving into a sea of debt, and her mother had simply fallen sick from the shock. In just one week, she had become extremely thin.
”Mom, I know.” Yin Yao nodded her head emphatically. She hated, hated herself for not being able to protect her beloved family.
However, the medical fees had yet to be raised. The attending physician had said that if the medical fees were not raised within a month, they had to leave the hospital …
Thinking of this, Yin Yao wiped the tears from her eyes and tried her best to smile. ”Mom, you'll be fine very soon.” She was an only child, and now she was the only one who cared for her mother. She had to be strong.
Mother Yin weakly nodded her head, with a sobbing tone that stuck to her throat. ”Yaoyao, you should go back first. Go and rest first before coming back to accompany me.”
”Mom, I'm not tired.” Yin Yao shook her head. How could she bear to leave her mother alone in the hospital?
Unexpectedly, his mother's attitude was very unyielding. ”You're not even going to listen to your mother's words anymore? ”Come, let's go back.”
Feeling helpless, Yin Yao could only bid farewell to her mother, turned around, and walked out of the ward. After leaving the hospital, it was already dusk. Yin Yao passed through the market and took a few turns, finally arriving at an old apartment building.
The apartment was old, the porcelain outside sloshing with sewage, the garbage from the trash can at the door spilling out and reeking.
Yin Yao walked up the narrow and long stairs to the third floor, where she discovered that her house had been splashed with red paint. On the wall, there were several eye-piercing red letters: ”Debt for money!”
Yin Yao froze for a moment. Suddenly, she remembered that the car her father had left behind was still in the parking lot not far away. She remembered those people who were collecting debts. They must have remembered the license plate number!
Not daring to stay any longer, she ran to the parking lot. Sure enough, from a distance, they saw a hooking machine lifting up that tattered van!
”Don't be like this! This is my dad's car! ” Yin Yao threw herself at the middle-aged man beside the hook.
Unexpectedly, that man flung his hand, slapping Yin Yao to the ground, ”Smelly bitch!” Your dad owes me hundreds of thousands of dollars. Now that he's dead, don't think that you can go back on your word. I'm going to sell this car now! Everything is just starting, I'm warning you all to pay off the money! ”
Yin Yao was beaten senseless. She fell to the ground, tears streaming down her face from the pain.
