30 The First Recrui (1/2)
Naga didn't go directly to their manor. He went to the city's main district for a walk. This is his first time visiting the place.
Even at this time at night, the place is still lively. Many stores, restaurants and botiques are still open. There were performers in the streets too. Some are busking while others are performing with simple magic tricks for children.
Naga was about to enter a bakeshop when he heard a commotion.
”Get out and don't bother us!” A huge mascular man pushed an old lady and a young boy.
”Ww.. wait mister.” The boy tried to approach the man but he was kicked and fell to the ground.
'Argh.' The old woman panicked and assisted the boy.
”Le... let's go.” The old woman crid and said.
”Do not go here again or else!” The huge man said. He turned around and enter the building.
Many people looked at them with different emotions. No city guards interrupted too. It seems like they are already used to it.
Naga looked at the two of them for a while before entering the bakeshop. Inside the shop, he looked at the stand and menu and then he decided to order two slices of chocolate cake and two sweet breads. He asked for water too.
No other customers are inside aside from him. He went to a table with a window view and then started eating his cake.
The main door of the shop opened and two people entered. An old lady and a boy, same people that Naga saw earlier.
The old lady went to the stand and pointed a bread.
”Excuse me. How much is this bread?” her voice is low and weak.
”It's for 5 copper coins.” The counter staff said. He was the only employee at this time too.
The old lady was not able to respond right away.
”Is there a bread for 2 copper coins? We only have 2 right now.” The old lady tried to smile and asked in a low voice. She was ashamed since they don't enough money.
”There's None.” The counter staff felt quite sad.
”I see. Thank you.” The old lady smiled but you can see sadness in her eyes.
She turned around and was about to leave with the young boy when the counter staff called her.
”Ma'am, please wait. Here.” The staff gave her two sweet breads.
”Stay for a while and have a seat. I'll get you a hot coffee and a cold water for the kid.” He smiled.
”We don't have...” The old lady was interrupted by the staff.
”On the house. Wait for me.” He smiled.
The old lady can't thank him enough. They went to a table near the counter. She looked at the boy and smiled warmly.
Naga looked at them and smiled. 'Old Samuel is right. There are kind people here.'
Naga is eating the second slice when suddenly someone opened the door with a strong push. 'Bang!'
Two men entered the bakeshop. A tall man who's smoking a cigarette and the huge man from before.
”Look here. You told us that you don't have any money.” The huge man looked at the old lady.
The tall man approached them and put his hand on the boy's shoulder. ”You lied, huh?”
