Chapter 390 - The Chase (1/2)
After the children were tucked into bed, Sasquatch and Lotus finally left the orphanage. Of course, Sasquatch couldn't be seen walking out the front door, so he pretended that he needed to use the bathroom and bid farewell to Lotus while they were still on the grounds.
Lotus didn't live too far from the orphanage, so she wrapped herself tightly in her scarf and coat and walked home like she usually did.
She had lived in Beijing for many years and had volunteered at the orphanage for just as long. Every time she finished, she would take the same path home and she never had any issues. Sure, she ran into the odd drunkard or homeless person, but she simply ignored them and they left her alone.
So, it took her completely by surprise when she suddenly heard footsteps behind her.
The footsteps were faint and careful like they were deliberately trying to sneak up on her.
In situations like this, a woman would normally turn onto a main road or walk somewhere where there were a lot of people, but Lotus ended up turning into a quiet alleyway...
Behind her, Sasquatch had been waiting patiently for an opportunity. When he saw her turn into the alleyway, he saw his chance and immediately rushed forward. But, just like earlier at the orphanage, as soon as he turned the corner, he saw Lotus standing there looking at him.
This time, he had no excuse. He was obviously following her.
Without a word, he stretched out his arm to grab her shoulder. He had already played nice all day, it was time to take things seriously. But, to his surprise, Lotus furrowed her brows and quickly dodged. She then turned her body in a nimble manner and kicked him on the back.
”Who are you?” she asked as she clenched her fist and aimed a punch towards Sasquatch's head.
Sasquatch realized the woman knew some martial arts, so he did not hold back. He quickly squatted, grabbed the woman's arms, and flipped her over his shoulder. Lotus reacted swiftly and landed on her feet. She looked at Sasquatch and analyzed the situation. Now that she looked at him properly, he had a strong and burly body and his stance told her he was well-trained in martial arts too. Just by looking at him, she knew her opponent was stronger than her. If she stuck around, she would eventually lose...
Lotus' main priority was survival. She quickly scanned her surroundings and noticed some pieces of timber stacked against the wall of the alleyway. Someone had done some renovations and there were still nails sticking out of some of them. Without a second thought, she knocked over the stack and they came tumbling to the floor, creating a barrier between her and Sasquatch.
Sasquatch covered his face and jumped back in surprise.
When he looked in front of him again, Lotus was already running away. ”I don't know who you are, but stop following me!” she screamed.
Sasquatch frowned and quickly tried to chase after her, but because there were some nails sticking up from the timber boards, he had to be careful where he stepped and it slowed him down a little.
Lotus smirked when she saw this; she knew her obstacle would work. After all, this was not the first time she escaped from someone that was after her. However, she was a bit confused by Sasquatch. She had never met him before today and she was sure she didn't offend anyone recently. Why was he after her?
