Chapter 364 - Conserving Energy (1/2)
Up until recently, Danson had spent most of his a.d.u.l.t life not achieving much. He had never excelled in anything particular and his father's PR company didn't interest him either. All he did was drink, flirt with women, hang around with other rich socialites, and spend his father's money. But, the company somehow ended up in his hands so he was forced to run it.
Fortunately, Marissa returned and he found someone to palm the company back onto. Although traditionally, a man was meant to be the breadwinner, she was technically his stepmother, so he didn't mind living off of her while he 'took care' of their home (even though, technically, they had maids and helpers to do that).
He considered himself as an open-minded person; this was gender-equality, right?
Marissa liked being a strong and independent woman anyway.
But, just as he was beginning to enjoy his idle life again, Emerson suddenly contacted him and asked him to be the director of his new entertainment agency. Perhaps, Emerson saw something in him that he didn't see himself.
If he did, then he was right!
At first, he was helping Emerson as a favor. But, only after one week into the job, Danson discovered he felt more motivated and alive than he had ever felt before. From the moment he discussed Avaleigh's first project, to her audition, to watching her sign her contract - each successful step was so gratifying. Before long, he even took the initiative and signed on their second artist!
Emerson was pleased but surprised. He had started the agency for Avaleigh and never really considered the long term direction of the business, but it seemed, he had really put his business in the right hands.
Ever since high school, Danson had been a charismatic and charming person that got what he wanted without much effort; Marissa was probably the only challenge he had ever faced. Emerson knew this well. Moreover, he had dated many women and had a good judge of character. With one glance, he knew whether a woman was genuine and if she had any ulterior motives. Thus, directing an entertainment agency was the perfect job for him. He easily spotted good talent with good character, and he had the charm to scout them for their agency. On top of that, he knew many people that worked behind-the-scenes in the entertainment agency and could easily secure jobs for his artists.
”We will be flying back to Shanghai tomorrow to film the first episode of your new variety show. Are you ready?” Danson asked Avaleigh over the phone. For some reason, he felt more excited than she did.
Avaleigh was just about to pack her suitcase at that moment. As she rolled it out of storage, she replied, ”Yes, I'm looking forward to it.” She knew of the Korean version of this show and knew it was a long-running show that had spanned many years over hundreds of episodes. If she managed to secure a permanent position, this would be enough for her for the rest of her life!
Just as she finished her conversation with Danson and hung up the phone, a pair of arms suddenly wrapped around her from behind. ”I'm going to miss you,” Emerson's charming voice said beside her ear.
Avaleigh blushed a little and proceeded to open up her suitcase. But, to her surprise, she discovered the suitcase wasn't empty!
It was filled with fresh roses!
The sweet fragrance quickly enveloped the room and she gasped in surprise.
