Chapter 341 - A Proper Kiss (1/2)

The words, 'you're my favorite', echoed in Avaleigh's ears as she stared at the man blankly. Her fans often said these words to her, but coming from Emerson, it had a totally different effect. Her body tingled, her heart raced, her palms became sweaty, and her cheeks burned up.

She could feel Emerson's arm around her waist and it made her nervous. It had been a long time since she was this close to a man. The last and only time she dated someone was when she was 19 and that guy turned out to be a sc.u.mbag that she dumped before he managed to get physical with her. Even when she appeared in idol dramas, the director maintained a distance between her and her love interest so she could uphold her innocence. The Koreans cared a lot about that; even holding hands was a big deal.

So, she didn't know how to react.

Especially when Emerson suddenly looked her in the eyes and began to lean forward.

She glanced at his lips and almost stopped breathing as he moved closer. The smell of his cologne tickled her senses and teased her heart. His heavy breathing was s.e.xy and masculine and his body was strong and sculpted.

Avaleigh bit her lip as she looked at him. Over the last week, he had been showing up out of nowhere to help her and take care of her. He even gave her a place to stay. But, apart from voicing his feelings for her, there had been no real progress between them. He simply appeared in front of her every day, provoked her desires, made her feelings grow, and then disappeared at the end of the night. Only today, did they finally hug.

So, as he moved closer, Avaleigh did not resist. If he wanted to kiss her, she was ready for it. She had been ready days ago.

But, she had no idea what Emerson was thinking. He had the patience to wait over a decade for Halia, he had the self-control to resist Marissa, and he had the integrity to not take advantage of a woman when she was vulnerable. So, he didn't mind waiting. He knew he had to act faster than he did with Halia, but he was happy to wait a little longer; he could easily wait another month...or even two...

So, just as his lips were about to touch Avaleigh's, he tilted his head a little, leaned over her shoulder, and grabbed a piece of sushi.

Avaleigh took a deep breath. Her heart almost stopped. She thought he was going to kiss her. But, as it turned out, he was simply leaning over to grab a piece of sushi.

Emerson popped the sushi in his mouth and smiled with satisfaction like an innocent child as Avaleigh felt a sense of disappointment. Again, this man was unknowingly teasing her. It was like dangling a carrot in front of a horse and not giving the carrot to it in the end.

With frustration, Avaleigh gathered her courage. She had to make a move or the tension was going to kill her. So, she stood on her tiptoes and leaned forward. Her carrot was not getting away this time.

Emerson froze and swallowed the sushi in his mouth as he felt something, warm, soft, and moist against his lips. His heart skipped a beat and he glanced down. Avaleigh's eyes were closed, her nose was gently touching his, and her lips...her lips were pressed firmly against his.

She was kissing him!
