Chapter 305 - Begging For More (1/2)

Emerson's car soon pulled up outside a beautiful mansion that overlooked the city. As a local, Avaleigh had traveled up to The Peak multiple times, but she had always caught the tram to the tourist lookout point, never had she been to the residential area. Although she had mingled with the rich and famous over the past few years, she still felt a little out of place here.

Avaleigh stepped out of the car and a middle-aged woman suddenly rushed over. ”You must be Ava! Emerson told us you were coming. Come inside,” she smiled.

Avaleigh looked at Emerson curiously as the woman started dragging her inside and Emerson smiled. ”This is Aunt Lily,” he said.

Aunt? Avaleigh realized, at that moment, that she may have misunderstood the man. When he said he was taking her home, she was imagining the two of them, all alone, under one roof, but as she walked in through the big double redwood doors, she noticed the sheer size of the place and realized how silly she had been. This was obviously his family home, and judging by the size, quite a few people lived inside. As soon as she walked through the door, she already saw a butler and four maids, and as Aunt Lily led her into the dining room, she also saw an old man sitting inside.

She had her guard up because of an experience she had in the past, but she realized she couldn't judge the present based on things that had happened in the past. Emerson was not her ex-boyfriend; he was a known gentleman. But, she couldn't help wonder what he meant when he said he would leave her 'begging for more'.

Avaleigh subconsciously glanced at her watch. It was already 11pm. Was it rude of her to intrude so late at night?

”I'm sorry to bother you so late at night,” she said as Aunt Lily gestured for her to sit down.

Aunt Lily smiled, ”No bother at all. Emerson doesn't bring guests often. Plus, he told us you were working late. Emerson often works late and comes home at this time too.”

She then glanced at one of the maids and nodded her head.

Emerson soon joined them at the dining table. He had changed out of his hotel uniform and was wearing a collared shirt with black pants. As he sat down next to Avaleigh, he introduced the old man that was sitting at the table, ”Ava, this is my father.”

Father Wu eyed the woman up and down. Unlike Emerson, she was still dressed in a hotel cleaner's uniform so he wasn't too impressed. But, there was something familiar about her that he couldn't pinpoint. ”What do you do, Miss Ava? Why were you still at work so late at night?”

Father Wu had been quite surprised when his son suddenly called home and said he was bringing a guest. Emerson barely brought guests home, and apart from Halia, this was the first woman, so he he was naturally curious about her.

Avaleigh noticed the old man looking at the uniform on her body and realized he may have mistaken her for a cleaner. But, just as she was about to explain, Emerson cut in, ”She is the woman I like. Why does it matter what she does?”

Avaleigh was quite surprised by this response. Many men had pursued her in the past because she was a celebrity and they wanted to show her off to their friends and family, but this man didn't seem to care.
