Chapter 245 - Mortons Stalker? (1/2)

”Why are you here, Miss Feng? I thought Haili Feng never attends social events, let alone private parties. Besides, isn't Fengtai based in Guiyang City, what are you doing in Beijing?” Morton asked with doubt.

Halia darted her eyes, ”I live in Beijing,” she said. ”My friend invited me to join him, so I decided to make an exception and come.”

Morton smirked. This woman didn't sound too convincing. But, why was she lying?

She dressed up as a man to work at his law firm; she happened to make coffee that was perfect for his tastes; she appeared at a party that she knew he would be at; she asked him to take her to one of the bedrooms; he even caught her holding a box of condoms.

Did this woman like him? Was she stalking him and trying to seduce him?

This wasn't the first time a woman had tried to get his attention. But, her method was certainly creative.

Morton looked down at Halia as she blinked at him innocently. Even when she was dressed as a man, he had noticed her beautiful eyes. Now that she was a woman, her eyes were even more alluring.

Halia was seated on the edge of the bed and the man was standing right in front of her. She couldn't move back, but she couldn't stand up either, so she gently cleared her throat, ”Did you bring the bandaids and broom?”

Morton snapped out of his daze, pointed to a broom by the door and nodded his head. He then pulled out a small box of bandaids from his pocket. ”Show me your finger. I'll put it on for you.”

Halia quickly shook her head and grabbed the box. ”No, that's fine. I can do it myself. Can you please move aside so I can get back to the bathroom?” she waved her hand awkwardly.

Morton smirked as he stepped aside and watched as Halia quickly rushed past, grabbed the broom and returned to the bathroom.

...

Back in the living room, Emerson was beginning to worry about Halia. What was taking her so long?

He glanced at his watch and looked over towards the corridor.

”There's always a queue for the bathroom,” Roy explained when he saw the anxious look on Emerson's face.

Emerson looked at the man and quickly realized something as he nodded his head. As long as he kept an eye on Roy and prevented him from going near the bedrooms, then Halia wouldn't be caught and she could take as much time as she wanted. So, he raised his glass towards Roy, ”Thanks for hosting a great party.”

”No, thank you for coming, and thanks for bringing Miss Feng as well. It's such an honor,” Roy replied as he raised his glass as well. ”The two of you make a great couple.”

Emerson blushed a little but didn't correct the man. After all, it didn't matter what this man thought.

But, next to them, Marissa overheard and frowned. Was Emerson admitting that they were a couple?

She grabbed another glass of alcohol and emptied it into her stomach as Danson continued to watch with amus.e.m.e.nt. ”It seems, your 15 years of effort have gone to waste. This woman appeared out of nowhere and she's already won his heart,” he teased.

Marissa clenched her fists angrily and grabbed onto Emerson's arm. ”Emerson, do you want to dance?” she asked as she ignored Danson.
